“Incredible hotel in a stunning city ”
Reviewed 24 March 2014 via mobile

I stayed here on Saturday night for my birthday. We booked the suite in the corner of the garden and it was such a beautiful room I couldn't have asked for any more! It was a 2 floor suite with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs which included a lovely four posted bed and nice big bathroom.

The entire hotel was decorated well and had a brilliant feel to it. It's also in a great location and walking distance to all the major attractions.

The hotel staff were so helpful and very accommodating. They kept our luggage for us and we were able to use the large car park a 5 min walk away (came to around €16 for the stay).

I would highly recommend this hotel and if you can, treat yourself to a deluxe suite as they are worth it! Must say Bruges is a stunning city and I am so pleased to have spent my birthday there.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the standard rooms at the back of the hotel. I think this was a converted stable. If you have the time read the hotel’s history. This is interesting and tells of its different uses. There are leaflets available in the rooms. We were pleased that we had the upstairs room as our floorboards were lose and made the wardrobe rattle when we moved about. But this was the only downside. A mini fridge was available but no tea/coffee facilities. The hotel was tastefully decorated in keeping with its history and very clean. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. There is bacon, sausage and eggs with a good variety of continental meats and cakes. The hotel is 20 minutes walk from the train station or approx 9/10 Euros by taxi in 5 minutes. It’s in a peaceful area away from the main drinking areas but is just a five minutes walk to the main square and then on to where you want. Reception is helpful as are the waitresses serving breakfast. We were checking out before breakfast but were offered early breakfast. A pleasant stay.

The Hotel Jan Brito is an easy 20 minute walk from the train station and five minutes from the Grand Place. The hotel was very nicely decorated. Public areas had a villa feel, with antiques and wall hangings lending character. Guest rooms were sizable, well appointed and quiet. Our daughter and two year old grandson's room was spacious and well appointed as well. The lounge off the main lobby with its large fireplace was a welcome respite after walking Brugge; great for afternoon tea, beer, wine or an after dinner drink. Breakfast buffet was excellent. All the staff were helpful, polite and courteous.

This was our second visit to Bruges in just over a year - we loved the Jan Brito so much the first time that we didn't look anywhere else for this visit. Lovely hotel just off the main centre which gives it a fantastic peaceful location but within easy walking distance of all the main bits. We took our car this year and the hotel provided us with a ticket to use the underground car park just a 100 metres away from the hotel, which was also near a little park and two good bars !
Going back next year (hopefully) and will no doubt book this again.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are fantastic

Stayed for a weekend in FEbruary in the "standard" room at the top. Exposed rafters were a nice historic touch--didn't feel like an impersonal chain hotel. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty--excellent bread and pastries. Eggs, sausage, bacon, and beans, along with fresh and dried fruit, yogurt, and toast. Juices, tea and coffee. The breakfast room is sunny with fresh flowers--just perfectly charming. My room had no real shower, though, so beware, and it was hard to stand upright in the tub, due to the sharp slope of the roof--tall guests should beware. The mattress, pillows and carpet need updating. The location, is superb--a 5 minute walk from the Markt and 20 minutes from the windmills to the east. The cleaning ladies make a horrible ruckus outside the rooms.
