Second stay at the Brito and if possible this surpassed the first stay back in February of last year. Different room this time (one of the standard rooms) but this helped as it gave us a cracking view of the Belfort. Breakfasts are more or less the same, but the bones in the bacon have been removed which made all the difference in the world to me.

There was also a cat in the opposite window who looked very cute.

Fantastic hotel in every way - location is excellent, rooms are spotless, bathrooms are spacious and clean, beds are extremely comfortable.

Staff were all friendly and polite, from front of house to breakfast room (as they were before).

We checked in on Friday evening and had a wonderful two night stay. The room (a Knights Room) was really great. Walking upstairs, we found a really large double bed, and nice sitting area. The real feature are the wooden beams.

Breakfast in most hotels we've visited in Europe have been poor, but we were really impressed by the food here. Plentiful, and good quality.

The hotel is in a great location... very easy walk from train station, and close to main square.

The staff were very friendly too... making the whole stay very good. Highly recommend.

Stayed for 4 nights and have to say that this is one of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed in. The public spaces of the hotel were lovely and well maintained. We stayed in a "Knight's room" which was a little disappointing having very little natural light and being a touch on the small side. We also found it difficult to get the temperature bearable depite the large air conditioning unit and the weather not being warm. Despite this, our overall impression of the hotel was positive and the breakfasts were great. Overall I would recommend the hotel but would perhaps suggest paying a little extra for one of the more luxurious rooms.

This is a lovely hotel and really rather different. I think it is a series of merchant houses that have be renovated and as such the layout is unusual and the rooms appear to come in all shapes and sizes. We had two rooms as I travelled with both my partner and took my parents on a well deserved break. Staff were were very polite. Not over the top friendly but decent and efficient which is all you really want them to be.

The rooms we had were unusual. Ours had a huge bathroom with a shower wet area, nice thick handmade tiles and good grohe fixtures. The fireplace and some cupboards was still in this hugh room which might sound odd but this used to be a kitchen and they make a real effort to preserve the rooms as much as possible. My parents bedroom was huge with an amazing original ceiling and chandalier. The doors to the rooms were enormous. Everywhere you look there are original bits that they have kept and lots of photos around so you could see what they have rescued.

The breakfast was pretty decent with a reasonable amount on offer and the bar/lounge at night was lovely. Both these rooms had tall ceilings and the decor overall is great.

Location wise this is in a great location and you only have to walk about 5-10 minutes to get to the main square.

All in all this is a lovely and unusual place to stay and I would well recomend it if you want to stay somewhere very unlike a Holiday Inn or Marriott.

Jan Brito is situated in a convenient location around 50mtrs from the fishmarket, excellent for visiting all of the sights of the city.

The staff were very smart and friendly, it was possible to leave bagge prior to booking in and after booking out.

Our standard room was a good size, recently refurbished and very clean. It was very comfortable though maybe a little too warm.

Breakfast was superb and taken in a lovely dining room.

The cost of the stay was $130 per night, which was good value. I will stay at this hotel again.

Having spent hours searching through hotels and reviews we opted for Jan Brito as there seemed to be less negatives than some others and we are extremely glad we did. Having left it late to book we had to opt for a duchess room which was a little pricey but worth it. The hotel itself is full of character with amazingly high ceilings and a very warm welcome. The room was reached through a quaint little garden and although when walking to the hotel we had gone past a fairly noisy building inside our room it was completely silent. It was clean, airy, stunning 4 poster bed, double bath. In ever way an amazing room and fantastic hotel. I had mentioned it was our anniversary and they had even provided champagne and chocolates.

We have now stayed at the Jan Brito 5 times and we still love it. It is such a characterful hotel with lovely staff. You are always assured of a friendly welcome and the staff couldn't be more helpful.

The rooms are spacious and airy and always clean and well appointed (we usually have a Baroness Room). Breakfast is always plentiful and of good quality.

The hotel is just a short walk from the main thrust of Bruges and also very convenient for our favourite restaurant in Bruges - The Visscherie - fabulous fish and seafood restaurant.

The hotel has recently changed hands but we didn't notice anything detrimental - its just a shame that the hotel doesn't have its own car park any more - as we always travel by car, this was very convenient however the deal they now have with the nearby underground car park works equally as well.

Will definitely return.
