We visited this hotel having read wonderful reviews and were not disappointed. The quad room we had was very spacious (actually 2 rooms) - everything was spotlessly clean - beautiful mansion house - very helpful and friendly - on site parking a great bonus - excellent breakfast with wonderful coffee, which makes a pleasant change since most hotel coffee we've tasted in recent years has been awful. We would recomend this hotel 100%, for its all round high standards.

Here is something amazing. My husband had his wallet taken by a pickpocket on the train to Bruges. We lost all our money (my husband had just transfered it from his money belt to his wallet), credit cards and bank card. It was on a Saturday so we didn't even have a way to get some with a bank transfer. So there we were, without even money to take a taxi from the train station to the hotel. The police called the hotel and the owner came to the train station himself to pick us up! That in itself would make me recommend this hotel highly.

The hotel is lovely...we had a big, beautiful room (got the superior room and still paid only 120 euros (now about $180). The breakfast was all you could ask for and would have cost at least $30 dollars a person at a restaurants. This place is indeed a hidden gem. We loved it and would stay here again in a minute.

My wife and I loved this hotel. We stayed here four nights in August ‘09. The hotel is in a beautiful old mansion on a quiet street, close to Burg and Grasmarkt, and just a couple of short blocks from one of the main canals. The main sights, restaurants, shops, etc. are within easy walking distance ( and walking in Bruges is part of the experience!). The hotel is family run and the atmosphere is very friendly, warm, and welcoming.

We had made a reservation via the hotel website months in advance, but re-booked to save money. We were assigned one of the smallest of the rooms on the upper floor (#32). The hotel has three floors but luggage isn’t really a problem because there is a small lift that goes all the way to street level. Though small, our room was attractively furnished with twin beds, fresh wallpaper and matching drapes with 18th & 19th century scenes, and charming open beam ceiling. There was a closet, small refrigerator, t.v., and even a room safe. The spotless small tiled bathroom had a shower only. There was no counter space. Our room had a window overlooking the back courtyard and was very quiet – rooms at the front of the hotel might have some street noise, though the neighborhood was generally quiet. The rooms are not air conditioned so in warmer months you have to leave your window open for cooling. Tip: Room 31 next to ours looked very desirable as it was larger and on the corner.

Breakfast was included and was served in the old mansion dining room – very large, elegant, high-ceiling. Nice selection of pastries, yoghurt, fruit, juice, and eggs served to order. On the same floor was a small lounge and also a small library with a computer (2e per hour for internet).

All in all we highly recommend Hotel Patritius. It has character, charm, and comfort for a reasonable price.

Tips: (1) Taxi fare from the train station is 13e but there isn’t much alternative. It would be much too far to walk to the Patritius. (2) Tourist Information Bureau charges for almost everything, including maps – bring your own. (3) The free hotel discount card for museums, bike rentals, etc. is a pretty good deal. (4) Driving and parking in central Bruges isn’t something we’d try and we don’t recommend it. Car rental agencies aren’t allowed to have offices in the central area, but may pick you up from your hotel if you inquire.

The hotel is lovely. The staff (owner) was very helpful in providing information. The room was beautifully decorated and very clean just as it appeared on the website. Before we left we asked to see other rooms. We were able to see 1 other room which had been recently renovated. It was beautiful and elegant. The breakfast (included in the price) was wonderful. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. We would definately return.

We wanted a short stay in Brugg and were recomended to stay at the Patritius, we checked out some of the reviews and decided to book , the secure parking was a grate asset for us as we were ttraveling by motorcycle, the hotel was quiet clean and the owners were friendly and welcoming. we had a terible journey from the moment we left home and ended up traveling for 13 hours instead of an estimted 5 1/2 hrs we arived around 8 pm and made to feel very welcome. we asked for directions to the nearist reterant and were given a map and directed away from the market to a nice resturant that didn't cost the earth. our hotel room was clean well decorated and overlooked the lovely little garden. we went to the irish bar on the saterday night and don't agree with the bad review over price and sevice we didn't eat there but had a few drinks 10 euro for a pint of Kilkeny and a bottle of celtic cider with table service and live music most of the bars we visited (quite a few) we were paying between 8 -10 euro for 2 glasses of Belgium beer. if your driving to brugg get a sat nav or a good local street map as the one way system isn't that well signposted the righting is small and the cobbles don't make it any easier. we would reccomend staying at the Patritius and will definetly stay there the next time we go to Brugg.

Just got back from a lovely few days in Bruge, After reading some great reviews we had no hesitation in booking up. The hotel is very grand and has a lovely lounge there is also a lovely garden, the breakfast room is also very nice an.d there is a great choice of food to choose from. However our room was very poor quality, i don't know what the rest of the rooms are like but ours was shabby, especially the bathroom , when i turned the bathroom light on it did'nt work, when i reported it i was told to tap it, this worked, though my wife could'nt get the hang of it. the light shade was covered in dust which i cleaned myself, the bathroom sealant looked like it had been put on by a child, and the bracket for the shower was completely loose. It's a shame because if the rooms were redecorated and new bathrooms put in this would be a top hotel.

The hotel was very charming and delightful. The young couple who run it were so very pleasant and helpful - they even provided us with fans for our rooms. Our room was large and nicely decorated and our daughter's room was lovely as well. The breakfast was buffet style with a good variety of choices. The hotel is located a short walk from the center of town. Beware the restaurants in the touristy areas - try ones in the back streets and neighborhoods. Be sure and take the canal boat tour - its lovely.
