“A fantastic place.”

Hans and Angelina have to be the most welcoming hosts of anywhere we have been. The guest house is clean and tidy at all times, and the rooms are cleaned everyday to a good standard (poor Hans must be exhausted during busy times!). The location is excellent for heading out to anywhere, being nice and quiet, but also very close to all major routes if you are driving. There are a couple of local bistros at the end of the road, and also an Indian and a Chinese (the Chinese is outstanding). Our room was huge, with a large jacuzzi style bath, and had a nice view over the gardens. Parking on site is a huge bonus, and makes those day trips out very easy - you can also stock up on picnic items from the very well hidden away supermarket next door (you can't see or hear this from the guest house).

Hans knows his country well, and points out many interesting things to see, and even told us about a great beech to go to in Holland.. Sounds a trek, but actually really isn't that far.

Overall, a great experience. We loved it, and would happily go back.

This gasthof could not have been better. It's an absolute gem and I would highly recommend it to others.

The building is a beautiful villa located in it's own grounds with free car parking for guest in a quiet residential area but just a short walk to the historic centre of bruges.

The hosts were so welcoming including arranging an early morning breakfast when we had to leave at 6am. The normal breakfast at 8-30 had absolutely everything you could possibly want for breakfast- hot rolls, croissants, pain au chocolate, cheeses, cold meats, range of teas.. And the most amazing chocolate cake!!

Our room & en suite was beautifully fresh.. So quiet and comfortable. I rarely think I've had such a good nights sleep away from home

All in all- a wonderful stay in this unique gasthof in a beautiful city.
Thank you

It took a little searching, never having been to Belgium before, but what a treat when we pulled into the driveway to find this three storey older home that has been converted in to a five room hotel. In Canada we'd probably call it a B & B, but that might be selling it short. Our room on the ground floor was VERY spacious with tons of closet space and a decent sized work area. Bathroom was equally large with a jet tub as well. Clean as a whistle, of course. Grounds are immaculate and have several smaller ponds, complete with three wild ducks that come looking for food while avoiding (very successfully) the area cats. Nice place to sit and enjoy a good book with a glass of wine, as we did. Rates very favourable and included a typical European breakfast of breads, meats, cheeses and cereals. Short walk (10 minutes) to the old city of Bruges and another 10 to the very centre. Well located a few blocks from the city ring road. Hans and Angelina, the hosts, were a wealth of information and treated us warmly throughout. I have NO hesitation about recommending this property highly.

Room Tip: I didn't see any other rooms but the sole ground floor room is very convenient.

We were thrilled to find this attractive guesthouse, which is set back from a quiet residential street in Assebroek, 15 minutes walk from the touristy centre of Bruges. As a family of five, it is not always easy to find hotel accommodation to suit, but here we had two interconnected rooms, accessible from a single door. One had a large double and a single bed and the other was a twin. The rooms were spotless and spacious. The owner speaks fluent English and was very welcoming, providing information and maps of the area on arrival. Breakfast was in an attractive conservatory and consisted of boiled eggs, pastries, bread, cheese, yogurts and homemade cake. There is a supermarket near by, so you can easily stock up on picnic supplies (a good idea given the high prices in Bruges). The only downside was not having a kettle in the room. We would go back.

Had a pleasant friendly welcome from Heinz on arrival. He told us a bit about the area & gave us a map & marked all the areas of interest on it. He also loaned me a road map of how to get to a beach in holland which was less than an hour away.
Breakfast was from 8.30 till 10. cereals, meat, cheese, rolls, jams etc, enough to keep you going for a few hours. Room was spotlessly clean & freshly decorated. Do bring a kettle though as there is not one supplied. Beds very comfortable & bathroom had a good quality shower.
Free parking is a bonus & its about a 20 minute stroll into the centre of beautiful Bruges.
Had a great 3 days here, would definitely return!

Room Tip: If you have walking difficulty, ask that you are not put in the top floor rooms as the steps are ste...

My wife, son and myself recently returned from a short break to Bruges where we stayed at the Gasthof Groenhove. As previous reviewers have stated it is within 15-20 minutes of the centre, has on-site parking (no charge) and clean and spacious rooms. Breakfasts were plentiful with cereal, meats, cheeses, pastries and cake plus a good selection of teas, coffee and fruit juice.

On arrival Hans provides a brief introduction to Bruges and provided us with a map giving directions from the hotel to the various attractions together with a card which, when shown at the attractions, enabled a reduced entrance fee to be obtained.

The room also had a well stocked mini bar, although we did not take advantage of it, we would of preferred tea/coffee making facilities.

Taking everything into account we were very satisfied and would not hesitate in using the hotel again. It was nice to be able to park the car on arriving and not using it again until our departure on the final day.

Room Tip: Our room was number 4 with the balcony

Agree with all the previous complimentary comments.....a clean small hotel within walking distance of the city centre(c. 15 minutes to the city gate), free wifi etc
Although there are no coffee making machines etc in your room you are only about 200 yards from a very well hidden Carrfour supermarket......where you can stock up for drinks/refreshments for your stay and return journey.
The hotels owner is charming and could not be more helpful.....speaks excellent English ......

Easy to find the Hotel using satnav and you are able to park your car in the large private secure garden.
Bruges is like a much smaller version of Amsterdam but without all the nasty bits and the crowds......the only thing we saw leaning out of a window was a labrador dog sunbathing it's head!!!
Enjoy your stay .....we did

Room Tip: We had room One.....tucked away around a corner on the ground floor....large double bed plus very la...
