“A Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed 23 December 2011

We stayed here for 3 nights in late November, lovely crisp, clear and cold weather. The hotel is very well located near the city centre and all the main sites, the shopping district and restaurants, all walkable. The hotel staff were so charming and welcoming all the way through. The hotel is very well presented in all areas. Our room, one of the smaller rooms at the top of the hotel, was very bijou, beautifully decorated, spacious enough, with a very clean, bright and modern bathroom. Breakfast was superb, almost limitless options (chocolate fountain, anyone?), you could want for nothing in terms of choice, and service was polite and friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for one on the first or second floor, not at the top.

Hotel De Tuilerieen has a terrific location overlooking the Den Dijver canal, and is within easy walking distance of the tourist areas (just minutes away). Parking is available at the rear of the hotel (at an extra charge). The hotel staff were friendly and helpful at check-in. The hotel is essentially an old "15th century nobel residence" that has been wonderfully updated, but retains its historic charm. I had a room on the second floor with a great view looking over the canal and old city. The room was spacious with a luxurious 4 poster bed, desk, and elegant chair. The bathroom was not the most modern, but perfectly acceptable, and in keeping with the style of the bedroom. (Interestingly, a colleague had a very similar room next door, but it was decorated in a very modern style. So it might be worth asking at check-in about the availability of different room styles.) The breakfast buffet selection was very good (with eggs cooked to order). Again the staff on duty for breakfast were friendly, but it is not 5 star service if that is what you are looking for. I saw one of the servers brushing her hair in the kitchen which was rather off-putting. We stayed two nights and ate dinner at the Park Restaurant (5 mins walk), and Kardinaalshof (5-10 mins walk). Both very good meals although different kinds of restaurants. (Park has more atmosphere and more hearty food. Kardinaalshof has a tasting menu and is more fancy.) If you are sensitive to noise you might want to ask for a room on the top floor of the hotel. I could hear people walking on the wooden floors above my room around midnight. Having said that, I would certainly stay at this hotel again. It has a lot to offer.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the canal at the front.

My husband never fails to surprise me, his memory is so good, and his heart is so big. He remembered my marvelling at the hotel with the pink venetian crystal windows, many years ago when we first visited Bruges. Recently he told me we were off to Bruges for the weekend. He carefully entered the address and not the name of the hotel into the satnav. It never dawned on me until we got there that he had booked it. I was overjoyed. My happiness must have touched the heart of the receptionist, because he immediately upgraded us to a beautiful suite at the front of the hotel. It was altogether a memorable evening, and the next morning I spent an hour or two gazing through the rose tinted glass. I'll bet you didn't realise that grey clouds look pale mauve through pink glass. Remember to take your swimming togs there is a plunge pool and turkish bath too, which looks great.

Room Tip: The hotel has pink crystal windows to the front and back, so you cannot fail to experience of living...

central location on the canal, a 5 minute walk from where the taxi dropped us. Charming and very helpful staff, including help in carrying our bags to our room. Generous and delicious breakfast. Really comfortable bed and divine pillows. A hotel I will definitely return too.

Hotel's located along the canal ; and it 's very central. Although the room rates are very high, hotel itself cannot be accepted as a luxury property.
We stayed at deluxe room with canal view paying an extra amount of 25 EUR. The room was very comfortable. Especially the bed was very comfy.
The hotel has its own car park.
The greatest thing about this hotel was its gorgeous breakfast.
The lobby was lovely, sitting by the chimney corner was very nice.
We had booked it directly with the hotel. I got disappointed to see the last minute booking rates with 44% discount on booking.com after we booked it with the hotel.

My husband and i stayed at the Hotel De Tuilereen for 6 days in September. From the outside it didn't look much - but certainly had a 'wow' factor once you walked through the doors.

The concierge and hotel staff are amongst the most helpful we have ever had the good fortune to encounter, and really made our stay a wonderful experience.

On arrival we were checked in promptly, and given a map of Bruges, complete with recommendations for things to do. (We liked the circular walk beside the windmills, and the rides in the canal boat & horse and carriage). When asked about vegetarian dining I was immediately given a choice of three good quality restaurants for lunch and a selection of dinner venues for the evening. In addition we ate at Le Menu Belge in the hotel - Although the forest mushrooms with tagaletelle was not to my taste, I really enjoyed the mixed vegetable quiche with locally sourced salad.

Our room was immaculate - a duplex in the annex at the rear of the hotel. Plenty of space, clean and very comfortable. Nicely furnished throughout.

Given the good weather during our stay we spent our mornings sightseeing, and the afternoons soaking up the sun on the little terrace at the rear of the hotel. (The chiming of the church bells from the square and sounds of happy children playing at the primary school behind the hotel were so relaxing). The house white wine is very drinkable, light and crisp.
It was nice to have a hotel with a pool, sauna and steam room in Bruges. Beware - the pool is small, more of a splash pool. I reluctantly have to agree with the other reviewers - It is a little uncomfortable with more than two people in the pool, sauna or steam room at any one time. You do need to time your trip to these facilities well! Having said that, we went in the pool everyday to cool down from the heat, and made good use of the sauna and steam room. (Tip - if you want to use the steam room, please ask reception to switch this on for you. It takes 20minutes to reach required steam temperature).

If you are planning a trip to Bruges I would certainly recommend this hotel without hesitation. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

great value on a deal from Travel Republic (£60 ppper night B&B Sun-Tues)
FANTASTIC beds and super breakfast - helpful staff, great location..What more do you want?
(a coffee & tea in the room would be nice)
We rode on a motorcycle there - park with the push bikes for free in the nearby fish market. Car parking is very expensive within the city boundaries - cheaper at the rail terminus .
