The hostel is clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful and accommodating, perfectly adequate for individuals or groups on a tight budget wanting a bed for the night. Breakfast was simple but adequate.
The walk to the outer edge of Brugge only takes 10 minutes which is an advantage, as being further out there is plenty of outdoor garden space, compared to being in the centre where rooms are much smaller and there is no outdoor space.

Overall quite a sterile sort of place - A little far out, rooms okay and staff friendly enough, but the bathrooms were disgusting. The showers were full of hair and smelled like urine, and the toilets were even worse. Also Internet access was complete crap - apparently the router could only deal with a certain number of connections so you were lucky to connect in te first place, and then it dropped out all the time. Breakfast lame.

Just got back from a school trip to Europa hostel in Brugge and as if school trips weren't stressful enough, the staff here added to our stress levels!
The accomodation itself is clean and comfortable in a basic type of way, but the staff have no idea how to make you feel welcome.
We were there for 4 nights with 120 people - so spending a lot of money, and the staff were all rude, moany and unapproachable.
The evening meals were TINY - our 11 year olds were practically starving. We were told off for giving the children too many cornflakes and using too much milk at breakfast and to top it all, the children were told they couldn't have a glass of tap water because they were having soup!
I'm sure this is ok for individuals who are passing through and are eating in the city, but DO NOT take a school group here - you'll regret it.

Maybe as a schooltrip it works, but if you are traveling by yourself or with just another person don't do it, it smells terrible!! like feet! It doesn't seem that clean and there are not many commodities, you have to pay for the internet and the security in the rooms is really questionable, I'd recommend you not to stay in this hostel at all, in my opinion it's better if you go to bruges just for the day and then sleep in brussels or somewhere else.
Don't stay here! it stinks! and breakfast is hideous

The Europa hostel is clean and the breakfast is good and just enough, considering that is complimentary. A word of caution: Be there before breakfast closing time (forgot but think its 9 or 9.30 am), or you wont even get coffee from the machines. They stop on-time, so to speak.

The hostel is also a good 20 min walk from the main part of Bruges. But then Bruges is incomplete without walking so its not that bad!

One of the ladies at the reception though, was quite curt and seemed to make great attempts at being polite. Personal opinion, though.

Europa is clean, usually friendly, has a big common area for groups to congregate in, and it's walking distance into the old town. I've stayed at several other hostels within the old town before - none were really appropriate for our school age kids - I was glad to find Europa.

Wonderfully clean place. We had a nice courtyard view from our room. 15-20 minute walk to the center of Bruges. Buses on the weekends to and from the train station are very limited, so we walked with our bags. It would have been nice if the hostel had bus schedules. There was no kitchen, but they had a nice cafeteria style breakfast. Was a great value, but I would pay more to be more centrally located.
