“Excellent location, wonderful staff, beautiful rooms”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2012

We had a group of 9 people traveling through Europe and stayed 2 nights at the Peellaert. The hotel is very old world style which is beautiful. The location couldn't be much better, only a short walk off the town square. We had been to Bruges before, but our hotel was nice but a long walk from the main area. This was so much more convenient. The staff was incredibly helpful and led us to one of our favorite meals of moule frites. The bar service could have been a bit better, but that is a minor flaw in what otherwise is a wonderful hotel. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the back. There is a bar across the street from the main entrance that is pretty l...

After our experience the night before in Rudesheim this hotel turned out to be a great find. The bedroom (Junior Suite) was lovely, the hotel was immaculate and all the staff we came across were excellent. The location is great being just a short walk from the main square and with lots of restaurants even closer. Having visited Bruge several times and stayed in more than a few before we will use the Oud Huis in the future. It is better in terms of quality than many so called better hotels in the city and is easily the tops for value.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front can be a little noisy

There is nothing that could have been improved about our stay in this hotel. AS the cliche states, there are 3 things important about any property, location, location, location. This is true about Oud Huis, but it has so much more to offer its guests.

The staff are attentive and friendly, especially Sebastian, Valerie and Sophie.

We were in an executive room which was spacious and comfortable, even with an extra bed. There were very few English channels on the TV but we had not gone to Bruges to sit in a room watching TV.

The bathroom had everything we needed, no separate shower cubicle, but that's not the end of the world. The toiletries were very luxurious and stacks of lovely white fluffy towels. The frosted glass door was unusual but didn't create any problems for any of us.

Breakfast was delicious and a wide selection was made available every morning, regularly replenished throughout. There was no problem with varying your choice, Usual things such as cereals, (real) fresh fruit salad, etc You could choose smoked salmon one morning, ham and cheese the next, then bacon and egg on another and so on. It is up to the guest to be selective and vary their own breakfast.

The hotel makes it all so easy to have a great time. I would love to go back but there are too many cities I still want to experience.

We were staying in a standard room at "Aud Huis de Pellaert" for 2 nights. The hotel was decorated and finished beautifully and in keeping with the period. Our room was to the front, opposite the Youth Hostel - we heard a bit of noise on the Saturday night, but other than that it was pretty quiet. Our room was nice, fairly small but is probably because there was too much loose furniture in it - king size bed (v. comfortable) with 2 bedside tables, 2 tub chairs and coffee table,tv cabinet and desk & chair - the gap between the wall of the bathroom and desk was no more than 500mm on diagonal!
There was a good choice for breakfast- mostly continental, but there was bacon, eggs and sausages - I couldnt resist the slices of smoked salmon!
We made use of the spa which was very relaxing - we had it to ourselves. There is a sauna and steam room with a couple of massage rooms and relaxation area.

Just had a lovely long weekend here. The room was very nice and spacious (junior suite) and the lovely staff there couldn't do enough for us. When we checked out our bill was less than 70 Euros . This seemed pretty cheap as both my wife and me had a few drinks in the bar the two evenings we were there (large too) and the 70 Euros included a dozen red roses and a box of chocolates they arranged to be there for my wife on our arrival. NIce weekend many thanks particularly to the three ladies on reception who were extremely helpful and charming.

Obviously it's a 4 star hotel so you would expect clean rooms, etc. But we found this to be a highly enjoyable stay and the most excellent breakfast buffet with a huge choice which lasted us through to the evening! Bar over the road can be a bit noisy but we were out to enjoy ourselves too. If you want peace and quiet then a city centre hotel is not likely to suit you anyway.

This is a beautiful hotel, where a group of us stayed to celebrate a friends special birthday. The staff were very accomodating in allowing us to decorate the breakfast table. It is in a great spot and an ideal base for all the sightseeing on foot. We had read reviews about the noise from the bar opposite and asked for a quiet room for us all. The reception were great and upgraded our rooms which were at the front, reassuring us that the windows had been triple glazed just a few weeks earlier. Huge praise to the hotel for addressing what was clearly a problem, as we DID NOT HEAR A THING! The beds were the most comfortable we had slept in, and breakfast was excellent. Thanks to Sebastian on rfeception who looked after us and was very charming.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, upgrade your room.
