This little hotel was spotlessly clean with no signs of dodgy decorating or worn carpets, and the hosts couldn't do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble (umbrellas supplied if the weather turns, voltage adapters for any country etc), breakfast was lovely and served in light and airy surroundings , wi-fi was strong & easy to connect to and the Market square was a very pleasant 3 minute walk away with famous landmarks, like the Basilica of the Holy Blood and the Town Hall in Burg Square, on this short walk.
There's no bar in this hotel but, if you go to Bruges, you're there to sample the local beers and ambiance. These things are found around the 1st corner from the hotel.
We went here on a Eurostar/Hotel package and I'm shocked at the value for money. A fantastically fast, simple journey to another country, 2 nights - with breakfast and wonderful accommodation in beautiful surroundings, plus an equally smooth stress-free journey home - all for about £171 per person!!
How do they make their money?
All in all - Wonderful.

Spotlessly clean, well run family hotel in a quiet street close to the centre. The owner was extremely welcoming and considerate and helpful. We had a lovely two night break and would certainly return.

Just spent 3 days in Bruges and stayed at the Anselmus Hotel. We were greeted in a most friendly and helpful manner by Ronnie. Our room was spacious and light and comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious. The hotel has a super warm ambience, is spotless and we couldn't have had a better stay. And the location is perfect for getting everywhere on foot.

Room Tip: We were in Room 8. I don't know the other rooms. Ours was quiet, spacious, big bathroom. Great!

We loved Bruges and loved this hotel.

It is located 2 very short blocks from the center of Bruges, which is perfect. The hotel is quiet and peaceful, but so close to the wonderful sites.

We had a room for 5! It is hard to find a room for 4 in Europe, but we had an extra person this trip. We usually have to book 2 rooms just for the 4 of us, and I was worried we might need three. So imagine my delight when I found this hotel online with a room for 5! It is really a room for 4 with an extra bed. But we felt that we had plenty of space. We even managed to play a game of cards around the table at night!

The kids were surprised to get an actual key to the room. I think it was the first time they remember seeing this in a hotel. It was also the first time they'd seen anyone walk us to our room, so in their minds the Anselmus quickly became one of the nicest hotels they'd ever stayed in.

While it's wonderful and we highly recommend it, it is not luxurious. The bathroom was small, and had an accordion door which did little to stop sound from coming through.

The breakfast in the morning was fine. Not a great selection but certainly met our needs.

And as mentioned in previous reviews the owners were very helpful with maps, advice, storing bags on our last day, etc.

We would recommend this to friends traveling to Bruges.

City centre hotel just minutes away from historic Bruges centre. The hotel was clean, tidy and the staff friendly.
Although the hotel does not have a bar there are numerous bars and restaurants in the centre of Bruges so it’s barely an inconvenience.
Good breakfast.
Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
