Very helpful owners who keep a spotlessly clean establishment. Provided a very good breakfast and excellent recommendations for local restaurants. Perfect location from which to enjoy the old town of Bruges. Would stop there again.

Our second stay at the Anselmus because it is so conveniently located. Lovely, spacious room. Quiet on the top floor. Owners very helpful and polite and serve a great breakfast. Clean room and bathroom. Lovely breakfast room and internal courtyard. Free Wi-Fi works well throughout.

Room Tip: Room on the top floor are very quiet if you are okay with steep stairs. Room 26 (double room) comes...

We enjoyed our one night stay in this very charming hotel. The hospitality of the staff was outstanding. Breakfast was plentiful and the room was spacious for a large family of 5. The room had a beautiful charm to it that made us feel at home. The hotel was very close to all the activities in Brugge's town center. Within about a 5 minute walk we could access the boats to ride down the canals. We also took a horse carriage ride through town which gave us a great historical perspective of the city. Beautiful hotel and town.

Room Tip: If you have difficulty climbing stairs, ask for a room on the ground level.

We arrived in Bruges by train, and walked the approximately 20 minutes from the station through the town centre to the Anselmus Hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owners, who proceeded ( in very good english) to check us in and gave us a thorough set of suggestions on where to go and what to see as well as giving us a discount card. We proceeded to our room on the top floor after leaving our toddler's buggy in the lobby at the owners suggestion. I'd warn older travellers or those with small children that the stairs are quite steep and there is no elevator, though this wasn't an issue for us. The room was very spacious for a continental hotel, with even a small bathtub and heater in the bathroom. There was however no refrigerator, so keep that in mind.

The hotel is, as many people have stated, very centrally located being only a 2 minute walk from many sites and the town centre. We went out for supper and came back to a very quiet and restful atmosphere. The various pieces of art throughout the property are very pleasant to look at and we had an excellent nights sleep.

We only ate the breakfast one day, and if I was going to fault anything I'd say that the price for the continental breakfast at 14 euros seemed a bit dear as we were able to get similar at a cafe for 7 euros. That said I'm personally not a huge fan of continental breakfasts, but my wife is and she thought it was very good.

Altogether the stay was very pleasant and I would recommend this hotel to pretty much anyone travelling to Bruges.

Room Tip: As I said previously, if you are older then you might not want a room on the top floor.

Recently I had a business trip to Brugge and stayed in Anselmus hotel. Hotel is nearly perfect, good location (2 min walk to center), tasty breakfast, extremely helpful owner. On the first day when we arrived I had a terrible headache, thanks to the owner he provided me with the medicine immediately. Also our baggage was lost during the flight, but the next day when we returned to the hotel it was already delivered directly to our room.
But I think the main thing why this hotel is so special, is it's atmosphere, starting from building where hotel is located and ending with the room decoration and so sweet metal coffee pot served for breakfast.

I recommend this hotel, it will make your stay in Brugge unforgettable.

Nice and clean and comfortable. The room was lovely and bright with nice curtains and very white sheets on very comfy beds. Had a good nights sleep and woke up to a very good breakfast with friendly service.

Very nice hotel, situated only about 5 minutes stroll from the Markt. Owner one of the most agreeable and friendly people I've met and made us feel really welcome. Rooms are very clean and tidy Breakfast was very fresh and served in a lovely breakfast room that even in November was light and airy.

If you have any kind of walking difficulties, beware the very top rooms - We were fine, but the stairs were really steep! Also had to drop one point for no shower curtain which made life a bit tricky in the bathroom. Otherwise well recommended and very good value for Bruges.

Room Tip: Avoid the top rooms if you have walking difficulties or don't like steep steps.
