My wife and I stayed here with other members of our family we were a party of six and had 3 double rooms all of which were perfect, very comfortable, very clean, very quiet, just perfect. The breakfas was beautiful and there was plenty of it.

Veronique insisted we had freshly squeezed OJ which was beautiful and sweet.

She also took the time to cook perfect scrambled eggs and boiled eggs, the attention to detail was brilliant.

The location of the hote was only a hundred metres from the main square where there was plenty going on.

If you are going to Brugge for a visit you know what you are going for, I can just add that if you are looking for a really good hotel then this is it

Thanks Veronique Chris, Kim, Malcom, Gale, Gary and Jo

We stayed in the garden room, a beatiful green color room which was very quiet with a fantastic view. The room was spacious comparing to other hotels we used to stay in Europe. The restroom was equipped with a good quality facilities of bath tub and shower. The room was squeeky clean. We were very happy with the room which was just like was shown on the internet.
The breakfast was petty much the same everyday, bread, meat and one egg made to order (only one egg is included per person, you have to pay extra for more than one egg). The breakfast room was very gorgeous.
However, Veronique was very busy doing everything and seemed to be a little moody when I asked about direction and information about the activity in Bruges on the first day we arrived. It was quite a disappiontment regarding her behavior.

Room Tip: The garden room that we stayed was very quiet with the best view (the owner said so).

My wife and I recently stayed overnight in Bruges during our whirlwind European tour via the rails. We found the Alegria through Trip Advisor and were attracted by its generally positive reviews and reasonable rates. Here's how I'd summarize our experience:

Room - We stayed in the Marshmellow room which was spotlessly clean, had lots of character and a great street view from our two windows. I believe we were on the 3rd floor, but take note that there is no elevator so be prepared to hike your luggage up the stairs. All in all, a great room and felt very satisfied.

Front desk/staff - Very helpful and friendly. The older lady manning the front desk is direct and a little blunt, but has lots of character and was very helpful and nice to us.

Breakfast - you can never beat a "free" breakfast in Europe (included in the room rate)! The morning breakfast was very good and set us up nicely for the day.

Location - located literally steps away from Bruges main square! The town is so compact that we were able to walk everywhere during our time there, and having the added convenience of being so close to everything made it the perfect spot. Its also just a short bus/taxi ride from Bruges station, or if you're feeling athletic and ambitious, a 30 minute walk.

The bottom line - Loved the Alegria and would definitely stay there again if given the chance. Five very well deserved rating points with no qualms or complaints whatsoever. When you combine the location, value and the quality of the hotel, you'll come to learn the Alegria is hard to beat in Bruges!

Room Tip: Each room is unique, we enjoyed the Marshmellow room for its lovely street view and street view, and...

I was very happy to have chosen the Alegria. It's run with a personal touch, has very nice rooms and facilities, a good breakfast and a great location. Best of all, the owner Veronique seem to have an endless capacity for answering questions and helping out her guests. She really puts her heart into the hotel, and it shows. I agree with my fellow travelers who said it's more like a boutique hotel than a B&B.

If you want a great place to stay near the center of Bruges you cannot beat the Alegria. The owner/manager Veronique is very helpful. The rooms are modern large and comfortable, with wifi for those addicted to their PCs. The breakfast spread is great. In warm weather I'd suggest that you try for a garden view room due to the traffic, human and auto, on the street and the way it echos.

Room Tip: I would always ask for a garden room. The garden is pretty and quiet.
