“Lovely location, friendly staff”
Reviewed 11 May 2014 via mobile

Had 3 days in Bruges, sight seeing, hotel in lovely location beside canal. Stayed in Superior room, tea making facilities , air con, tv. Nice clean room, not too small, only fault would say towels very thin. Continental breakfast included, nice. Staff v helpful and friendly, will definitely stay there again.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. First the location is absolutely perfect. Right on the canal in the middle of one of the most picturesque scenes in Belgium. Because of that we decided to get a canal view room because it was not that much more expensive. First of all, the room is HUGE. about 400 sq ft which is so rare in Europe. It was a corner room with three windows all with canal views. It made it hard to leave the room. But when we did we were STEPS from everywhere! For the price, it doens't get much better anywhere in the city!!

Spring for the canal view room! We paid 169 euros, the peak season is only 189 euros. Totally worth it!!!

Room Tip: Get a canal view room

We recently had a 3 night stay at The Bourgoensch Hof, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary! My husband booked the hotel, after we had both done a lot of research. The location was fabulous, very central & right on the main canal. We had a room on the 1st floor, with canal view. The view was beautiful! We were disappointed with the bedroom, which was very spacious, but seemed a bit tired & neglected, as was the bathroom. The breakfast room was lovely, with canal views, we were lucky to get a table by the window each morning. There was a good selection of continental breakfast & it was possible to order a cooked breakfast, presumably at extra cost. The receptionists were helpful. The cleaning each day was very cursory, mainly in the bathroom, the bedroom was hardly touched & the bed wasn't made properly
On the whole, its a good hotel, because of the location, if the bedrooms & bathrooms were updated it would be great. I think some of the rooms have been refurbished, but unfortunately ours hadn't!

Room Tip: Canal room!

This hotel was in a great location. The room is a bit outdated as mentioned in some reviews but it doesn't really matter - we had a great experience there which included a huge room which worked out well for my husband, myself and our 10 year old. The bathroom was nice and we had a canal view, which provided a huge window that opened right on the canal. Breakfast was good, staff was helpful and location could not be beat. Would definitely stay there again.

I spent 4 days at the Bourgoensch Hof. Excellent value and friendly, helpful staff. Clean large room and it was perfectly placed to explore the city. Good breakfast in a lovely room overlooking th canal. They organised a trip for us and were always willing to ring for taxis.

Room Tip: We had a superior room - good value

Recently stayed for 2 nights at the Bourgoensch Hof and had a very good time. The hotel was perfectly situated to explore the city center and had good access to the Markt and canals .Rooms had tea making facilities plus hair dryer.Reception arranged a taxi to transfer us back to the station and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were a good standard and included cereals, fruit yogurts, cheese, meats, pastries and bread. Our rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. We were on the 3 rd floor which could be accessed by lift or stairs. We were given a map of the city plus money off vouchers for major attractions .The Segway Tour was great fun and would recommend this .The guide for this tour showed us where the "oldest pub" in Bruge was - we went there twice- great beers and quiche. The price of our stay was good value for money and we would be happy to return to this hotel. We had a great time .
