Hotel Bourgoensch Hof

This hotel is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and we always had plenty of hot water for our showers. We requested a canal view room in advance and were given just that. A gorgeous picturesque view to wake up to each morning. We wouldn't stay anywhere else! We are a family of four (11,14). We've been traveling all over Europe and this was the best rest we've had. The location can't be beat.

We paid extra for a room with a view of the canal and it was well worth it -the hotel is featured on the cover of our guide book and is part of the most photographed view of Bruges.
The hotel is close to all amenities and some fantastic bars and restaurants
Breakfast was adequate

Central location was fantastic! My mother (71) and I (40 something...) walked everywhere from here, and found the location to be perfect - and easy to find. The receptionist (the young woman from the Philippines) was friendly and helpful. The breakfast had hard boiled eggs, cereals, yogurts, breads, cheeses & meats, and the staff worked hard to keep it all well-stocked. The decor in the dining rooms is a bit old-fashioned, but that was fine. Try to get a table with a window on the canal - nice!
We had two beds in our room, and they were comfortable. if you are into high thread count, you'll notice that the sheets are probably average - just to be totally forthcoming! But again, the beds were comfortable. The room was spacious - just how it looked in photos. I loved the wooden floors, and the table with two chairs. The bathroom was also very clean with a good shower. At first,, we were worried about the frosted glass door to the bathroom, but we could not see through it at all! Nothing to worry about! The flat screen TV had a few channels in English, and that was enough. Our room overlooked the entrance area, and the building across the way. By looking to the left, we could see the canal. An iron for pressing clothes is available, but we saw a man using it in the area in the lobby by the elevator. We guessed that he couldn't take it to his room, but don't know for sure.
The free wifi worked very well!
There's a taxi stand within walking distance from the hotel, so we walked to it with our luggage in order to get a taxi to the train station for the next leg of our journey. It was a quick trip by car - not sure if the station is really within walking distance of town, though. I would guess not.
We would stay here again.

There are many positives to this hotel, central location, a spacious room, charming views of the canal etc and excellent and friendly staff. Just a few more small improvements could make this a very good hotel. We had a very feeble shower, the bedroom was dated, and the coffee at breakfast was a disappointment (it's a fairly basic breakfast compared with other places we have stayed in). If you want somewhere very central, close to the Belfry, to use as a base to explore the city then Hotel Bourgoensch is fine. If you bring a car, parking is close by in an underground car park for just 10 euros a day. We had rooms on the canal side which were quiet, the guide boats stop at 6.30pm so they are not a problem. It was better than average but not quite 'very good'. I would stay here again.

Probably the best location in Bruges, certainly one of the most photographed!!!

Large, spotless rooms - a little drab maybe - but excellent all the same. Good choice at breakfast and really helpful, friendly staff.

Room Tip: Difinitely a canal view, so pretty....

When we arrived at the hotel we LOVED the view outside. Our room was at on the 3rd floor and had roof rafters exposed, which added to the whimsical experience of staying in that old building. our room did not have air conditioning but it was cool enough at night with the windows open that it was not a problem. The location was great and was close to many beautiful landmarks including the Bruges Belfry. The hotel was like a bed and breakfast so we enjoyed a very yummy breakfast at not additional cost.
