“Cosy drinking”
Reviewed 13 April 2014

It looks like an old Flemish 'bruin cafe' (literally: brown pub) - the different chairs, sausages and hops on the wall and a mix of all kinds of beer signs. Very cosy interior. As Belgian people we even had the chance to try out 2 new beers we've never heard of before. The girl who served us was very friendly and was interested in our preferences.

“Disappointed...”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

After reading the reviews, we were excited to give this place a try. So after our tour of De Halve Man Brewery, we decided to stop in. The bartender seemed annoyed by our presence in the establishment. We told him we wanted to do the tour of beers and instead of getting the input that so many people have raved about regarding our taste in beers and what we should select, he just told us the two beers that were excluded from the tasting menu and gave us a blank stare. Granted we were there around 2:30 in the afternoon, but one would think with fewer customers in the place, you would get better service. On the contrary, we must have interrupted whatever it was that the bartender was doing, because it seemed he was definitely eager for us to leave. The tasting menu was 8 euros for 3 small glasses. And it was the only place we saw a tip jar on the bar, but of course the sign on it was in English, so clearly it was intended only for tourists to pay extra. Awful. What a disappointment.

“Brilliant!!”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

Stayed at the hotel next door and decided to give this place a go rather than walking far in the pouring rain. Great decision! There's a catalogue of beers to chose from on the bar, plus helpful advice if needed. A fabulous selection of Belgian beers and a great pub atmosphere. Yes, it's a little expensive, but well worth it. A quality establishment!

“Little gem of a pub”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

if you are wanting to try different belgian beers with a real pub atmosphere together with great music then look no further. Just explain the type of beer you prefer and they know exactly what your palate would enjoy. Great way to spend a couple of hours after your visit to the brewery as it is down the next street. Very good value & would definately revisit.
