“Great setting for great beer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014

I hadn't planned on visiting Le Trappiste, but am really glad that we did.

The bar is in a cellar, nicely cool on a hot day. Twelve beers on tap, with a big menu over the bar giving descriptions and lots of bottles. The beer menu is extensive yet prices reasonable for the town.

Speaking as a beer-lover I'd have to say that Le Trappiste is one of the top ten bars I have been to around the world and definitely worth a visit to try some of the great beers of Belgium.

“If you like beer and a great atmosphere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

My husband and I found this place on our first night in Brugge and we returned each night for the length of our stay. The atmosphere of the cellar and the friendliness of the owners are a huge draw. But so is the huge selection of Belgian beers and the bar men's ability to help you find something delicious based on your tastes. The tasting paddle is a must if you aren't familiar with the wide variety of beers but be warned, Belgian beers can sneak up on you with their higher alcohol content! The cellar opens at 5 every day and is closed on Mondays. Do seek it out.

“Beer venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

I found my new favourite beer while visiting this bar. A quick chat with the bartender to guide your choice is a good idea when you're ordering. Located in a vaulted cellar, it has a definite atmosphere.

I would definitely visit again the next time I come to Bruges.

“Track it down. You won't be disappointed.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014 via mobile

Fairly tacky, sombre entrance belies the lovely bar downstairs. On a street where coopers once made beer barrels, the vaulted ceilings of the cellar where they plied their trade is now a beautifully atmospheric bar offering an amazing range of beers in pristine condition.
Doesn't really get going till 5pm so don't turn up before then. It will be shut,
If you are visiting Bruges to try the beers, you MUSTN'T miss it.

“Great beer and great bartenders”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

Hard to fault a place like this. Beautiful cellar bar with a great beer list. Bartenders were supernaturally accommodating on both my nights there. They know what they're talking about and they're really good people. Music was jazz and blues on my first night. Second night it was Led Zeppelin. Two different bartenders. Two different tastes in music - the bar has a soul. Snacks were awesome. I wish I'd stayed longer in Bruges just to hang out in this bar.
