“Beautiful moment of peace”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2013

How much would you pay to escape the crowds on a busy Saturday before Christmas?

Well in this case the answer is you dont have to pay anything at all to get 35 minutes of beautiful harp music played by a true expert. It is well worth taking a short period of time out of your day to attend this concert.

I think it runs at 3 & 5 most afternoons - apart from maybe Monday. You can buy a CD and give a donation, but you do not have to.

To find it you need to go through the arch next to St Jaans Hospital - opposite entrance to Onze Lieve Vrou Church, and go into the building directly ahead and there is a small room down on the right.

You can probably get about 50 people in so make sure you dont miss out!

“Hectic shopping to moment of peace”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 December 2013

I can only echo the many excellent reviews for this talented charming man. A real pleasure to listen to and informative. We gave him the donation that he thoroughly deserved but didn't demand.
The only sour note was the ignorant people who insist on holding their phones and cameras up to take flash photo's that spoil other peoples pleasure and must disturb the musician. I suggest a no pictures policy during the concert.

“Something different in Bruges”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 December 2013

We are frequent visitors to Bruges, but this was our first time to the harp concert. I can recommend it. Luc is skilled in playing and it was an experience to see the instrument being played professionally. Whilst Luc makes clear that donations on exit are welcomed, there is no pressure, but this is a half hour's relaxation that anyone who appreciates music will enjoy, and a contribution is well deserved. Luc is evidently passionate about his recitals, and puts every one at ease. The lighting effects on stage give the concert a professional feel. I would look forward to returning again. This is a hidden gem of Bruges that doesn't appear in the advertisements - in fact our hotel receptionist hadn't heard of it - but it's worthwhile searching it out.

“Lovely FREE concert”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 December 2013

Thank you Tripadvisor and Luc for giving us a magical experience as part of our shore day in Bruges. After a long day of sightseeing and Christmas shopping, it was lovely to sit in the warm and listen to a talented musician playing wonderful music on both concert and Celtic harps, as well as some very exotic instruments, including the Chinese harp and singing bowls! Unfortunately the concert only lasted 35 minutes, but we took away a signed CD of original music which is bringing back happy memories. Check the website to find out when he is putting on concerts - he doesn't do it every day,

NB the venue isn't well publicised, but it is in a room in the Congresscentre (Site Oud Sint Jan), through the archway to the apothecary's just past the Memling in Sint Jan, and opposite the Church of Our Lady (Onze Lieve Vrowekerk). Go early for a seat (through Rail City - see kateandrob) and enjoy!

“Breathtakingly beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013

When was the last time you went to a free harp concert? Luc is truly a gifted player making the instrument truly "sing" in his fingers. (We visited the Oud St Jan Hospital to see a flower exhibition at the start of the Christmas market, and we discovered he was playing in a room on the ground floor). He used a semi-concert pedal harp and a Celtic harp. He makes very good use of variations in timing, harmony and volume, supported by contributions from a variety of complimentary instruments such as singing bowls, monochord mandolin etc.

Thanks for your comment. Correction: the pedal harp is a full size concert harp from Lyon & Healy model 85CG. There is no mandolin, but chinese and Japanese harps. Mgr. Luc
