“very welcoming”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

When we arrived, we got a nice welcoming and an explanation of the rooms and usage of the facilities. The bar 'living room' gave us a comfy feeling and there was a big variety of local and forreign spirits available. Our room "Gipsy Express" was very tidy and quite exclusive because it is made from an old Gipsy cart. It has at least everything that a hotelroom has and even more. Too bad it was raining when we were there, otherwise we would rent a bike to scout the area. The breakfast buffet was very local and also home made which is a surplus for adventurous foodies.

Room Tip: Gipsy express is next to the hotel building and gives a nice view to the countryside. It might be a...

We arrived late due to a satnav error but having let the hotel know in advance there was a warm meal available for us even though the restaurant was not open.
A truly warm welcome for us (and our dog), a comfortable clean room with good amenities, and the most wonderful breakfast of home produce that made us want to stay a bit longer.
When travelling this way we will definitely use the De Stokerij again.

Lovely place off the beaten track, great facilities (though we did not have the time to take advantage), so nice to be offered a drink when we arrived too! Restaurant closed but recommendation for a place down the road that turned out to be amazing - excellent meal by chef Charles who really cares about what he does. Room lovely and breakfast, as others have said, superb. Owner very helpful as regards tours etc

We booked after reading the reviews on here and were not disappointed. We stayed for 2 nights. The room we had booked was spacious and comfy, a jacuzzi bath, which was supplied with shower gel, body lotion all made with olive oil and was very good. We wanted to stay here because of the reviews about the food. Wow. Homemade jams, fresh juice, home smoked fish and ham. The choice of Breads were staggering and cake, local cheeses, eggs. Breakfast was a feast :) The Hotel is in a remote spot which is very nice, look out for yellow signs with the Hotel name on. They will arrange bike hire for you. We drove to De Haan and parked for free and went on the tram which was very good value for money, Monday night we had a meal, there is no set menu I presume the choice is what is good on the day from the market. We had the best meal I have eaten in years also available was the Chefs choice of wine to go with each course. I cannot recommend eating here enough. It would be a shame to stay here and miss out on a fantastic meal. If you are looking for a romantic getaway this is the ideal place.

Room Tip: There is a room that has a balcony I would choose that room even though I didn't see inside I li...

We stayed here for 2 nights and we enjoyed it very much. They gave us some good advise about places we would like to visit. And it is a long time ago that I had fresh orange jus, home smoked Fish and meat, home made bread, home made marmalade, local cheese and your egg made on your personal preferences! Bikes are waiting for you and there is meeting room facility for business purpose and sauna for relaxation. Sea and Brugge only 15 kilometres and the tell you where to park the car for free in Oostende!

Thanks a lot!

Room Tip: Take the EXPRESS room (it is a beautiful railcar), it is a bit more money but you will have a new ex...

We stayed here for one night on a motorcycle tour of Europe after having read a number of good reviews about this place and we were not disappointed. The themed rooms were very comfortable, clean and quiet, due to the fact the hotel is in a rural setting away from the main roads. We were made most welcome despite being very weary from our travels and nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly people! The breakfast was first class with plenty to choose from. Our only criticism is that it was a little hard to find the hotel, the sign on the main road isn't very big and easy to miss at the end of a long day on the road. But this place was well worth it. We ate at a lovely pub/restaurant in the town centre and our hosts provided a free car ride there and back. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
