We just got back from our first trip to Bruges and found this hotel on trip advisor, very happy indeed. Location is fantastic, we stayed in room 7 and the view of the cathedral was spectacular. Breakfast was as good as everyone says, had waffles and the eggs. Unfortunately the weather was awful on the Sunday so spent a very happy afternoon in front of the fire with the cat drinking beer. Made to feel welcome and was amazed at the staffs language skills. Would definitely recommend.

I travelled by train from Amsterdam and stayed three nights September 10-13. Arriving at Brugge it was drizzling but I still chose to walk from the station to the hotel. The luggage wheels on the cobblestone streets made a bumpy and noisy but not at all strenuous walk. Check in was easy and carrying my bags up the stairs was good exercise after all that sitting on the train.
In room 8 by myself I was very comfortable, with a couple it would be a bit more squeezy but not too bad. The room looks out over the street and directly at Sint Salvators cathedral, great view and no noise to speak of. Pleasantly the windows are fully opening. This hotel has character, and room 8 is no exception. I counted 8 light switches, all for separate lights, but only 2 power points. There was another damaged power point behind a board placed for safety beside the bed.
The walls aren't thick so if you stay consider your neighbours because they can likely hear most of what you are saying. I was exhausted enough after very full days that it never bothered me.
WiFi in the room just doesn't happen. But sitting down in the lounge/bar of an evening with a drink was more than enough time to catch up on emails and facebook, the 21st century staples. And I quite enjoyed the retro '80s music while doing so.
I would definitely stay here again.

Have just spent a very enjoyable weekend in Bruges, complimented by the quirky charms of this wonderful hotel. Stayed in Room 1 with its fish tanks and whirlpool bath (tip - when using the whirlpool make sure the water level is above the nozzles before turning it on otherwise you recreate the final third of "Titanic"!), great central location, friendly staff and a resident cat ironically named Speedy! Would happily stay again.

We spent two days in this small hotel located right next to the Salvators cathedral and were very satisfied with everything (well, the fridge did not work and that was a small minus as it was very hot at the time...). Nice basic breakfast with omelette or a waffle made for you on request, cheap bicycle rent, friendly and helpful service, excellent location, charming old building, efficient air conditioning... The bar/breakfast room was excitingly decorated and cheerful, with a great view on the cathedral square. Yes, we can recommend this one wholeheartedly!

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights after finding a good deal on another site. We stayed in room 1 which was a lot bigger than we had imagined, very clean and had everything we had expected, including the fantastic whirlpool bath! Our room also had a little kitchenette (for those who aren't sure like us initially; two hobs, sink and a fridge) as well as a small balcony which was lovely in the evenings drinking a beer or two and basking in the evening sun! We also had a shower but can't say we used because when we did try it, the door didn't shut properly and water went everywhere, but it also had a strange plastic/rubber lining on the floor which smelled a bit funny... So opted for a bath!

As other reviews say, the location is excellent, just a bit out of the main centre of Bruges but everything you need is in walking distance. We didn't find there was much noise to be heard, except Sunday morning church bells but actually quite a pleasant wake up call for breakfast.

Breakfast was good, a nice continental selection but also the offer of waffles of eggs as well with that. Staff were nice enough, some looked as if they'd be happier elsewhere and didn't exactly come across as approachable but they were in the minority, most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

Overall, lovely hotel, reasonably priced for the size room we got and the available amenities and services the hotel offered. Would recommend and definitely stay here again if, or when, I hopefully visit the lovely Bruges again!

Room Tip: Room 1 where we stayed had a jacuzzi bath and a kitchenette (hob and fridge - no microwave)

The location of this hotel could hardly be better, we had a great view of the cathedral from our room, which was was spotless, the beds were comfy & the shower great. Staff were friendly & helpful & the waffles for breakfast were a nice touch. The decor in the hotel is a little unique, but all in all a great stay in the heart of Bruges.

This is a perfect hotel for exploring Bruges and getting a taste of history at the same time. The hotel is very old and boasts equally olde world Flemish charm downstairs in the lounge/restaurant and bar with antique and original stained glass everywhere.
The bedrooms are very different however, because although they have wonderful exposed beams and original features, they are also surprisingly well equipped with large plasma TV, jacuzzi baths and some nice designer fittings. Our room had lovely views over the cobbled street to the Cathedral some 50m away.
The hotel is relatively inexpensive for its central location, has very reasonable bar prices and Sandy and her staff are very helpful. They all work for a very large black and white cat, who is clearly the ultimate boss.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel - especially if you're not keen on chrome and plastic chain hotels. The only warning I would raise is that if you are elderly or infirm, make this known at the time of booking to avoid a top floor room up some very steep stairs.

Room Tip: Some rooms are in an annex immediately across the lane. These are large suites and are very nice, bu...
