Having spent a few days in Paris last year with two grandchildren, in a quadruple room in the city, we had decided to visit Bruges this year, but required a bit more than just one room for two adults and two grand children aged 13 and 10.. I picked this hotel for its location, the fact that it had a family suite, with two large rooms that were separate twin bed and double bed. Shower and shower over bath and separate WC. Both rooms with tv, free wi fi, quiet, warm on the ground floor, tea/coffee making facilities. Perfect for all. Breakfast in the cellar area adjacent to the small lounge area (good use of space) cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruits or a tinned fruit salad.
Eggs boiled, all the breads, toast etc., croissants cheese, ham... unfortunately disappointment all round for kids, no pain au chocolat! In Bruges too!! The owner/manager and his wife were pleasant, we were able to leave our suitcase in the reception until our taxi arrived, so we could still use up the time without lugging our bags about. We were early on arrival, but our room was available immediately. Plenty of fresh towels, shower gel was affixed to the wall type, so take own if particular.
Walking distance to all the city .... so easy to get to everywhere. We loved it, and would definitely recommend with our without children. Thank you for helping to make their first visit to Bruges such a success.

Room Tip: Family room No. 9 ground floor...

Can not praise this Hotel highly enough. The location could not be bettered when we booked we asked for a rear room having read some reviews here, we got one, but don't think it is really needed as noise did not seem to be a problem. The owner was outstanding with helpful tips and advice and answered our questions about the area fully and informatively. The continental breakfast was ample to set you up for the day. You will not get a better hotel in this price range in Bruges. Thank you Malleberg and staff for a fantastic mini break in Bruges.

Stayed in top floor room for 4 days in December 2013. Staff are excellent and helpful and the basement breakfast room and breakfast (amazing/outstanding choice for a buffet breakfast with cereals, continental breakfasts and boiled eggs) was the highlight. Regrettably the room, overlooking the street) was rather tired, with some wallpaper starting to peel (hence the 4 rating rather than 5), but the bed and pillows were comfortable. Great location for easy walking to all the main attractions. Lots of restaurants nearby but beware of the steep rise in prices in the main squares, restaurants in the side streets a little further away are much better value and the service is better - we found a very "take it or leave it" indifferent attitude in the expensive restaurants in the main squares, but were delighted with the service elsewhere.

Room Tip: Top floor overlooking the street needs redecorating.

We are very happy with all aspects of this hotel. The location is great, room clean and spacious, and the building cute. The stairs are not too steep but need to be taken into account if you have heavy bags. Book ground or first floor room. The host was most helpful, offering complimentary breakfast and bike hire vouchers ( 3 night stay offer). It is a highlight of accommodation at the end of a 6 week trip across 5 countries. It would be a reasonable 20 min walk with light luggage but challenging across cobblestones with heavier baggage. We hopped on a bus for a 5 min trip, getting out just after Markt sq, near Burg sq.

If you're looking for the ideal hotel in Brugge, this is the place! We stayed at the Hotel Malleberg for three nights and had a lovely experience. It's located in the middle of the historic section and innumerable restaurants, shops, and sites just steps from the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and charming, and service is fantastic. Moreover, the breakfast, which is included, is delicious. And lastly, they even included free bike rental for the day. We would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: Stay in Room 8.

I stayed for 4 days with 2 friends in December and it was everything we could ask for. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful, clean and supplied with tea and bathroom essentials. There are also plenty of english channels on the tv in the bedroom and access to wifi is readily available. Breakfast is quaint, there are many options including meats, cheese, bread, croissants, cereals and boiled eggs. The location is perfect, the basilica and markets are little more than a few steps away. Everything is within walking distance; including the rail station. This hotel is perfect for a short trip to Bruges, it's brilliant value for money and I couldn't recommend it more!

We stayed for 1 night in December. The Malleberg is very well located, approx. 50 metres from the Burg square and with Bruges being so compact, a short walk to anywhere in the centre. Our room was on the 1st floor, overlooking the patio. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The shower was large, with a good supply of hot water and the shower head at a height suitable for those of us taller than average. As our room faced to the back of the hotel, there was no traffic noise which other reports have mentioned, but neighbouring rooms could be heard a little. Free afternoon tea and a decent continental breakfast were taken in a very nice arched basement. The receptionist was polite and helpful. However, we had tried to book a table at a highly rated trip advisor restaurant by email prior to our journey without success, so asked the receptionist for advice. She later told us that the restaurant opened at 6pm and reservations were not necessary. When we found the restaurant it was closed for the winter. To be kind I'll call it a communication error, but it was slightly annoying. Overall, a very nice little hotel. Not luxurious, but clean, well located, spacious and with a good breakfast.
