“Top Rate Accommodations in Bruges”

My husband and I really stated at Cote Canal in the suite for 3 nights and it was the perfect place to stay in this magical city. Caroline, the owner of the home and proprietor of the B&B, is the perfect hostess. She genuinely wants her guests to have the best experience possible in Bruges. Her recommendations for the top places to visit were spot on and her restaurant suggestions were delicious.

Cote Canal is wonderfully situated in Bruges - an easy walk to everything but a very quiet, tranquil setting. The garden is so picturesque and we loved watching the birds there. We heard no street noise from our room and Caroline has thoughtfully provided blackout draperies in the rooms for a great night's sleep. Our suite was furnished with a hot pot for coffee/tea and a mini fridge. The toiletries were high quality and we were even provided fluffy robes and slippers. There was ample hot water and great water pressure in the shower.

The full breakfasts were delicious with homemade croissants (to die for), an assortment of breads and rolls, fresh squeezed orange juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, several cereals, meats, and cheeses. It would be easy to skip lunch after such a filling breakfast.

We would definitely stay here again if we return to Bruges, not only because of the top notch accommodations, because Caroline is a thoughtful, friendly hostess. Make your reservations early though because Cote Canal is a popular spot!

Room Tip: The suite is very spacious and has both a soaking tub and a shower. It overlooks the beautiful garde...

I stayed here with my wife for 3 nights and the place was perfect!

The house is a 5 minute walk from the centre of Bruges so perfectly located for some sightseeing. The room we stayed in was luxurious, clean, well equipped and exactly what you want to come back to at the end of a day of sightseeing/cycling/walking. There was a small fridge with drinks and the usual tea/coffee making facilities. The house has been renovated beautifully to show all it's historical features. Unusually for a house alongside the canal it has a garden too as it was originally built for residential user rather than commercial, and what a garden! We were very lucky with the weather and when we'd had enough sightseeing the garden was like something from a fairytale. Stunning.

All the above would be enough to make me want to go back but the thing that made the place so special was the owner Caroline. She was the most helpful, intelligent, beautiful and passionate host I have ever met. She takes excellent care of her guests and was genuinely interested in everyone that stayed with her. Right from the word go she gave us advice on where to go and where not to go and made us feel incredibly welcome. I chatted with her about the house which has been in her family for many years and the beautiful city surrounding it. She is a masterclass in how to treat your guests and how to run a B&B.

Room Tip: Any room would be a good choice.

We stayed in host Caroline's beautiful home for 3 nights for our 10th wedding anniversary. The location is fabulous, tucked away on a tiny street only a few minutes walk from the main squares - and the beautiful garden backs onto a lovely canal. The canal boat drivers make a point of showing their passengers the house as Caroline's Labrador, Fidel, is a local celebrity - spending his days snoozing in a canal-side window and posing for photos!

We stayed in the Clin d'Oeil room - a high-ceilinged, grand room with a huge bed and lovely deep bath with a separate shower. The fridge with beer, Coke and water was very welcome too.

Caroline is a wonderful host, she takes genuine delight in the guests joining her from around the world and is on hand with advice and recommendations should they be needed (she even knew the exact train times back to Brussels!).

Breakfast is set around a very large table with warm croissant, fresh orange juice and a wide variety of breads, pastries, cereals, cheese, meat, yogurt. Fresh coffee and a great selection of teas.

The Cote Canal offers the luxury of a great hotel with the relaxed atmosphere of a friend's home. Absolutely faultless.

We stayed at Cote Canal in March for a weekend. Putting it simply, everything was perfect.

The location is amazing, about a 5min walk to the main square and everything you need to see. The rooms are very large, and beautifully decorated. The shared areas are also amazing - the living room, the back garden and the kitchen. Caroline, the host, obviously places so much trust in her guests, as evidenced by the amazing items around the house, the honour system bar, and the items in the kitchen.

Finally, Caroline was the perfect host. Some B&B hosts can be overbearing, fake or rude and disapproving. However, nothing seemed to much for Caroline. She was incredibly friendly and helpful, and just a lovely host. We never felt like we were a pain or a burden - she seemed to really enjoy having us there.

All in all, some B&Bs feel impersonal, some feel like you're intruding in someone's house. With Caroline and Cote Canal, it felt like you were staying a your own amazing house in the middle of Bruges. Possibly the best experience we've had with a hotel or B&B in Europe.

Room Tip: All amazing

While the city of Brugges is beautiful, the Cote Canal and its generous hostess, Caroline, made the city, and our stay, magical. From the first email we traded with Caroline at Cote Canal until we left she was the epitome of the perfect hostess. She offered us a choice of what room to stay in and greeted us as soon as the cab dropped us at her front door. Before we even unpacked she took time to sit down with us and plan our stay and helped us select exquisite restaurants avoid tourist traps and suggested museums and "must see" sights. She even made restaurant reservations for us at a great local Belgian restaurant called Couvert on Eekhoutstraat. The B&B was beautiful and its location along the canal and just a few blocks from the heart of the city made getting to all the sights easy. We stayed in the attic room with large post and timber beams and plenty of room for 4 guests. You are guaranteed to have quite peaceful nights and be awakened to the sound of birds cooing outside your window each morning. Sharing breakfast with other guests in Caroline's sun drenched kitchen was a pleasure and in warmer days she has guests eat outside along the garden wall that overlooks the canal. Wanted to keep the gem to ourselves but Caroline and Cote Canal deserve the best of reviews. Cant wait to go back!

My husband and I stayed in the attic room, which was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. Caroline offered this room after I emailed about accommodations, since the main rooms were already booked. I would be perfectly happy to stay in the attic room again - it was great! Loved sitting at the window and watching boats go by on the canal, just below, beyond the beautiful garden. Caroline was a gracious hostess, very helpful, made a yummy breakfast which we ate in the garden. It was the nicest place we stayed on our two week Europe trip. We were there in early July 2013.
