“Interesting info about Chocolate”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Who knew the history of chocolate could be so interesting? I loved this museum and learned a lot. The thing I found most fascinating was the china--all of the pots and cups that were fashioned only for hot chocolate. Unbelievable. The chocolate demonstration was great as well. I would recommend going since chocolate is such a big piece of life in Belgium.

“It's a museum... not a factory.”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We'd been told that the choco museum was the thing to do in Bruge, but in truth, it did not live up to expectations. Uninspiring layout, uninspiring exhibits all a bit dull. I was expecting to at least taste some chocolate, having paid 7 euros to get in but all we got was one solitary chocolate at the end of the tour at the live demo.

The demo was the best thing about this tour however, but at 5mins long, not worth the entrance fee alone. I'd recommend going if you have done everything else, but don't make it a priority.

wonderfull museum about the origin and history of chocolate in Belgium. You can taste and buy chocolate and its ingredients, and even make your own Belgian-style pralines ! A must see !

“Not what we were expecting”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

After walking around downtown Bruges, exploring the chocolate shops, and of course doing a canal tour, we had a couple of hours to kill. So, we decided to visit this museum. My wife had read about it in a book, so it was sort of on her list of things to do, but not an absolute must.

The museum was not what my wife and I expected. At best it was very boring. Displays needed updating or sprucing up a little. After you paid your admission cost, you were handed a plastic covered sheet giving you a brief description of each floor.

Each display had a card in 3 languages to explain what the display was about. The lighting was not great, so it made reading the information challenging at times.

There are a lot of stairs, the museum is spread over 3 floors. There is a handicap elevator available.

Sound carries well in the museum, so, if you have two people talking in a louder than indoor voice, it will carry through out the floor you're on.

As you exit the museum, you walk through a chocolate shop/souvenir shop that can become a bottleneck in a hurry.

Would we go back there again. No

“Interested in chocolate”

Certainly tells you all you need to know about chocolate. Even give you a demo at the end of the tour, plus a taste. A lot of stairs, but they have a lift. Shop reasonably priced. Enjoyed it.
