This is our second time in Brugge, we were driven from Ghent to Brugge by chauffeur Brussels. The hotel is located at the end of a small lane near the main square of Brugge city. We had a superior double room well equipped with modern but regal feeling with a view of the 3 cathedrals, Belfry Tower towering over the city square, Spire of Church of our lady and the Tower of Saint Salvador. The bathroom had underfloor heating and the beds were so comfortable it was quite difficult to get out of bed in the mornings.
We enjoyed the manuscript restaurant it had a unique appeal the food was delicious the atmosphere very romantic and relaxing the staff were very professional and helpful with the menu, we wanted to have dinner the next night (Sunday) at the restaurant but found out it was closed We also loved the Bar Atelier their lunch (nice, quiet and peaceful) the evening pre-dinner drinks, cocktails, wines and beers we enjoyed very much. We found Brugge a bit touristy it was best to head back to the hotel after sight-seeing and enjoy the comforts and good food.
Duke’s Palace is in a great location in the city everything is within walking distance, to the market square surrounded by 100’s of gift shops, restaurants, horse drawn carriage rides, variety of delicious Belgian chocolate shops choices are endless, lace shops, 200’s or more of Belgian beers to sample, wiff of the Belgian waffle topped with cream, the 15 century Belfry tower hovering over the sky, the gilded Basilica of the Holly Blood in Burg Square and the boat rides along the canals.
We walked the whole city and we loved it, we loved walking along the river in Minnewater Park seeing the swans, ducks and birds swimming and pampering themselves, the horses pulling carts and pirouetting on cobbled stone roads with tourists drenched and under heavy blankets. Cruise boats crisscrossing along the canal with beautiful drops of arched stone bridges.
We enjoyed our stay very much, the staff during our stay did their utmost to make us feel at home, we had problems with our phone line and wi-fi but that was taken care of immediately. The only other things I would like to share with other reviews comments about wi-fi and manuscript restaurant closed on Sunday apart from that this hotel is close to number one of our favourites.
We will certainly like to stay in another Kempinski Hotel in other parts of the world when travelling. We would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Brugge.
