Stayed here for one night in January, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff at the Kimpinski made us feel at home rather than in a hotel.
The hotel itself is located in the heart of Bruge with all the main attractions within a short stroll.
We were upgraded to a Superior Suite in the old part of the hotel which was beautiful and ornate.
We would come back to this hotel without hesitation and would recommend to anyone looking for understated grandure and a touch of class.

We were very happy with our stay in the Kempinski, our room was delightful, overlooking the courtyard garden and red poodle! The housekeeping was second to none, clean sheets and towels every day. The location was spot on for walking easily around the city centre. Staff were very friendly and the only thing that could have been improved on was afternoon tea, the sandwiches had come out of the fridge, where they appeared to have been left unwrapped so a bit stale! you had to then go to a cooler in another room to choose your cakes, not really a very enjoyable experience! Would still go back there if "In Bruges" The city centre had some brilliant cafes and restaurants.

Room Tip: We didn't have breakfast instead chose to eat out, many great cafes in centre and cute little st...

very nice accommodation in an historically interesting castle building. Nice rooms, excellent service and just in walking distance to the city centre (1 min basically).

Would recommend to skip the hotel breakfast though and instead go for one of the many city places - there are quite some cafes around (especially recommendable: Humpty Dumpty).

Room Tip: we booked a junior suite, which was size-wise ok (one room though only).

We have been to Brugge many times over the past 10 years, generally in the Autumn, and decided this time to stay at The Kempinski as we have seen positive reviews for this 5 star hotel.
We arrived on 27th December.
We rang at the time of booking to ask for interconnecting suites and a nice double room as we were travelling with our daughters and a single friend.
On arrival, we were delighted at the look of the place, it was lit for Christmas and the tower gave it a feel of "Disney meets Brugge" which our 10 year old loved!
We felt it starnge that there was a shed type of stall outside where overcoated staff were attempting to sell hot chocolate and gluhwien.
Unfortunately, our rooms 102 and 103 were neither suites or interconnecting but were next to each other, so the friend took the other room 303, which was more spacious and had a vast bathroom.
102 was elaborately decorated with an extremely high ceiling, but was also quite small and quite dark. The delightfully comfortable bed took up the majority of the room.
The paintwork around the doors and skirtings was scuffed and in the daylight with the lights on we noticed that some wallpaper also needed repairing.
Breakfast at €32 per person was a very meagre affair and due to the excellent acoustic quality of the room, babies cries and cutlery clanging on cold plates were amplified to the point of grating!
Wi-fi is charged at €25 per day, which seems quite grabby considering the room rate.
From reading other reviews and seeing room 303, I can see that we must have been unlucky
with our room.
The porters were friendly but other staff quite indifferent. Post Christmas fatigue perhaps??

Room Tip: Check the hotel's description of "suite" before booking if space is important to you.

The Kempinski hotel in Bruges gives the impression of a midieval palace and it is located in the heart of the city. The rooms are big and nicely decorated with a touch of the Renaissance era. The staff were friendly and helpful. Despite that, I think they could have offered free wifi, instead having to pay 30€/day (aprox.).

My husband and I decided to travel by car around Belgium and France for Christmas this year. Upon arrival at the Duke' s Palace in Bruges the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The valet service helped with all the luggage and took the car. Christian kindly upgraded our room from the first floor (this room had no view!) to the fourth floor which had a fantastic view of the Belfry tower and churches (room 427). The room was extremely comfortable with a beautiful bathroom and everything you could need (even an umbrella) but being English we were disappointed that there were no tea and coffee making facilities. To order a cup of tea from room service it cost €5 for the tea and €5 to bring it up! €15 for 2of us! It was a beautiful tray of tea though with stollen cake and biscuits! We only did this once mind you!

The spa facilities are beautiful with complimentary apples and water bottles etc laid out. The only thing that spoilt it was the number of young children in the pool and in the gym(!) It clearly states that children under 16 should not be in the gym but as the area is unmanned this was not enforced and these children were using the equipment with no shoes on!

We did not opt for breakfast as it is €12 for a coffee and croissant and €30 for full breakfast. There are many back street cafes and tea rooms which do breakfast for less and there is a supermarket 200yards away with a lovely bakery and a chap from Stoke on Trent sells great waffles from a takeaway kiosk across from the supermarket.

Final criticism for the hotel is the price of the WiFi! €25 for one day! Free WiFi is hard to find in Bruges although there are a few restaurants in the main square. Despite the above niggles we had a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone who was travelling to Bruges!

The hotel is very conveniently located and absolutely beautiful. Good spa, nice room. Servie is all right, but we were a little disappointed one day when our room has not been made up for the whole day. Overall, very good.
