I had a fantastic stay in the Kempinski Hotel in Bruges. My boyfriend took me for my birthday and upgraded to a deluxe room. The room was huge, well decorated and well equipped and the bathroom was modern and very large. The bed was massive and so comfortable. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants and local attractions. The location was ideal - right in the middle of the city. We ate in the hotel restaurant which was equisite - we had the five course set menu and each course was absolutely fabulous and accompanied by wine to suit each course. I'd definitely return to the Kempinski Hotel but I'll have to save up for a while!

The staff are amazing: helpful beyond helpful with regards to directions, where to eat, attractions, forgotton travel plus!
There is parking (20 euros) below the hotel and the valet will park your car for you after taking your bags to your room.
The room was huge (in the new part of the hotel), the bed was huge and comfy and with down/feather pillows. The bathroom was clean, had a bath and a shower, hundreds of towels (!) and had a funky window with a blind that you can open and see into the bedroom part of the room! We had a lovely view of the garden (with the bizarre giant, red poodle)! There were three telephones in the room; a writing table; a flat screen, wall mounted tv; loads of wardrobe space but not with those annoying coat hangers - proper ones and all the usual bits like shoe polisher, toiletries etc.

Breakfast was lovely and I couldn't ask more from a hotel (and I've stayed in loads!) It's so nice to pay ths much and feel like you've got more than an average room and service and not been ripped off.

The hotel is tucked down a side street, near and yet somehow aloof from its surroundings. Reception was superb and the room was excellent. When our room was cleaned, however, the bag of rubbish was left in the room, and the night turndown was bizarre; duvet folded back, chocolate and TV listings with loo roll folded over - no other tidying! Breakfast was good, although the service a little strange; sometimes staff seemed to be in their own little world. Bar staff were on the case though. Lovely spa.

The Kempinksi aspires to be a 5 star hotel in Bruge but is not quite there as yet. Booked a special romantic weekend at this hotel only to find that the rooms were not cleaned on our first day after 3.00pm. After a tiring day of exploring the picturesque city of Bruge this was most annoying. The turndown service was appaling. Beds not made only a solo chocolate and water on the bedside table (laughable).
The reception staff are helpful and friendly and cannot be faulted. The restaurant food is not up to the standard you would expect. There are some great restaurants in Bruge do your research before you go depending on your own taste.
We had breakfast at Le Medici around the corner, great value and authentic Bruge Tea room. Half the price. The hotel charges 28 euros for breakfast, ok if you are a huge breakfast eater. There are some really good 4 star hotels in Bruge i would stay at one of them instead next time.

Everything was great just..
Small details can be improve, but it's a good hotel, with a young team with a lot of good will.
The airco in the room, the air is to dry, and it can't be switch off.
For the rest you will enjoy it.

The hotel is beautiful and the room was well fitted out, practical, comfortable and nice to look at. The reception staff were pleasant and efficient. The hotel is well located - it is only about 400 metres to the central square. The only problem we encountered was at breakfast. First, the cooked breakfast was expensive (56E for two). We were not told that there was a "continental breakfast" available. The cereals and related ingredients were in another room, virtually hidden behind a large dresser; we were not told of its existence and found it only when we saw another customer disappear behind the dresser and emerge a few minutes later with a bowl of something. The staff got about half of our orders wrong...coffee instead of tea, fried eggs instead of scrambled, raw egg instead of poached, forgot the tomatoes. As each error was pointed out, it was corrected, but with no apology or indication that the waitress cared at all. We complained and the restaurant manager apologised and bought us a glass of wine, but he asked if a named waitress was involved, so there clearly was a "history" there. So all in all, it was a beautiful hotel spoiled by a very inefficient and sloppy restaurant.
