“Luxury hotel with excellent service”
Reviewed 1 August 2010

The service at this hotel is impecible! They park your car, bring you the luggage and even walk you to your room when you arrive.

The rooms are spacious and the bed is incredible! There's a spa on the first floor, but it's not great.

However they had a few flaws that shouldn't be in a hotel of this standard.
- We found a sweater behind the bed, which tells me it's not properly cleaned.
- The wifi in the room did not work and they couldn't solve it.
- It smelled really bad from the shower.
- They did not inform us that the parking was 30 euros per night.

We stayed for one lovely night at the Kempinksi Hotel in Bruges during a two-week tour of Europe. We contemplated extending our stay because the hotel was so lovely and the staff was incredibly attentive. We came in at 1 am with our toddler and the stay could not be more helpful. They took care of everything and just made it so easy for us to check in. We had breakfast in the morning, and althought expensive (30 euro), was just a delicious meal in a gorgeous dining room. Definitely worth it. During our stay I ended up losing my cell phone in the room and the staff immediately located it and contacted me. The concierge gave excellent recommendations.

Also, the hotel has a lovely courtyard where you can have drinks and appetizers. The courtyard was perfect for our toddler to run around and burn off some energy. The staff actually recommended it as a perfect spot for him -- this was suprising since it was such a lovely hotel.

We will definitely come back to stay longer next time.

We loved this hotel. On our eight day trip in the Netherlands and Belgium our two nights here restored our faith in hotels. The staff were very friendly, hospitable and helpful. The rooms are to a very high standard with many additional facilities and touches that made the stay pleasant. The receptionists went out of their way to assist us with arrangements to enjoy Bruges and to book those things we had decided to do: nothing was too much for them. The hotel has a lot of character and is ideally situated right in the centre of Bruges a few minutes walk from the Market, the Belfry and the Burg. I would return to Bruges simply to have the joy of staying at this hotel again.

Just returned from a 3 day stay - we really enjoyed our stay at Kempinski Hotel Brugge. Good location in the heart of the City and easy to walk out and see all the sites. Only tip would be to park in a local car park - at 30 Euro a day at the Hotel a big gap from local rates at approx 8.50 a day. Hotel Breakfast is first rate with very good service - is a little expensive but worth every penny to set up your day. First class.

A beautiful castle right in the center of amazing Bruges, but we were a little disappointed:
the e room had a layer of dust everywhere, the bathroom vent had dust all over it and the room was so small (a deluxe!) you had to crawl between the bed and the huge tv to reach the bathroom.

Upon arrival a young girl on high heels offered her help with luggage but my husband did not want the help of a young girl so we ttook care of our own suitcases.

We had 'high' tea there, a mix of stale leftovers from breakfast! Terrible!

Breakfast itself was good but food was displayed in another tiny room, not an easy reach.

The inside of the hotel was done in what we thought a very tight budget, mismatched carpeting, very fake 'antique' lights, an awful modern staircase right in the middle of the third floor. They didn't want to spend on renovation and it shows! it was a first time in a Kempinski hotel and our expectations were maybe too high, we won't try this chain again, though!

We liked the location and it was OK for the days we were there but nothing to write back home about!

We really liked this hotel - our room was lovely and spacious with a large bathroom and was all very well equipped and very comfortable. Our only minor criticisms were that the aircon was not that effective and also that housekeeping were not as good as we would have expected of a 5 star hotel. Turndowns were quite late some days and on one day the room was not hoovered or dusted even though there were noticeable crumbs on the floor and table from our room service meal.

The staff were absolutely excellent - they went out of their way to help and were always friendly and efficient. The food was also very nice and we enjoyed spending time in the bar area which did excellent drinks. Breakfast was nice but we felt it was a little overpriced at 30 euro each - especially as this price did not seem to be advertised anywhere! We were prepared for this having read other reviews along similar lines (thank you tripadvisor!) but it would have been a nasty shock on the bill otherwise.

Like other reviewers, we did notice the "drains" smell in the corridors but not in our room and so it did not bother us. We actually noticed it more often in the streets of Bruges! The hotel is in an excellent location - all the main sights are just a short walk.

We would definitely return if we were to visit Bruges again.

We visited Bruges for my husband's 50th. Booked this hotel via Eurostar. Excellent service overall and well worth the stay.
Two small points: Room took ages to be ready to book in. They said they were busy but we felt room should have been available to use by 3pm and it wasn't. They did hurry up housekeeping for us though so not a huge problem. Lastly make sure, whether you book this hotel through a travel agent or directly, that the breakfast is included in the price. If you don't and you go down to breakfast beware the cost is 30 euros per head. Eat enough to make that cost worthwhile! I had a croissant and a coffee and the fact it cost 30 euros hurt!
