The title of the review should indicate to the reader what was our foremost feeling of the hotel after our stay.
Yes, the rooms are small and the bathrooms hardly larger than a postage stamp, but all that would have been ok if the staff was at least friendly and accommodating. Like a previous reviewer we arrived a bit earlier and were told very bluntly, it is not 15h, come back later. It was not so much the fact that we could not check in earlier, but the way we were informed that got to us. No effort was made at all to find out if the room was perhaps ready, we were simply told come back later by a receptionist that seemed more annoyed at being 'bothered' than someone trying to assist clients. This was unfortunately also the trend by other staff, except for one elderly gentleman that was friendly and helpful.

The staff is also the reason that we will never return to this hotel, notwithstanding the fact that it is ideally situated and not expensive.
As for the small room and tiny bathroom, that can be forgiven.
On the positive side, the hotel was clean and the beds were quite comfortable. The breakfast selection was adequate to good but somewhat spoiled by the attitude of the staff.

just back from 3 night stay at the imperial-first impressions outside/bar/breakfast room were good-quaint,oldy-worldy look. tried to check in 15 minutes earlier but wasnt allowed so came back after an hour to find a queue to the door with fellow travellers waiting to check in-so came back later! room was supposed to be a triple but was in fact a small double room with 2 single beds and a 'put-u-up' in the corner-im 9 stone and 5 foot 2 so was ok for me-we did try to complain-but receptionist was rather unpleasant and agressive-did eventually offer a 'triple' room-but wasnt ready straight away and we really couldnt be bothered! beds were quite comfortable and room was clean. hotel located in exactly the right place-1 minute from top class beach,just opposite the casino and 5 minutes from 'bar street'. breakfast was as expected-eggs,cheese,juice,cereal,etc and breakfast room was pleasant-though small-so go early to avoid the queue. ostend itself is fab and would defo go back-but not to this hotel-you dont get what you pay for!!

We had read the reviews of this hotel and found everything really as expected.

Our room was very small but clean with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was good and staff were very friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel was excellent . Centre of town and only 200 meters from the beach. Everything as others had commented in their reviews.

We booked a standard room at Euro 120 a night. The Deluxe rooms cost 50% more, which is a lot more but you get a much bigger and better room.

One strange thing with this hotel is you are given the TV control with your room key when you check in which must be returned on check out. Gives you a bad indication of the type of guests the hotel expects to attract.
