We stayed here for one night. Our room was of a good size, it was clean and tidy as was the bathroom - the shower was to die for!! Excellent
The bed was comfy and we slept well
Breakfast was also very nice, plenty of food too choose from, original continental breakfast, but if you wanted a couple of fried eggs this wasn't a problem - and refreshingly to see - they were at NO extra charge.
We wanted to stay another night, but unfortunately they were fully booked - shame!
Would we go back? Yes for sure :o)

We chose this off the internet for an overnight stay to visit the Menin Gate and Passendale when we were holidaying in France. It was easy to find, a few minutes walk from the central square, there was off street reasonably priced parking and the staff were really lovely. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean and had everything we needed.
Breakfast was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough to help make our stay a good as it could be.
We would have no hesitation in returning.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor double which was roomy yet still quiet despite facing the street

We visited Ypres for the Christmas market and museums and are so pleased we chose The Ambrosia for our three night stay. The host Vincent is helpful and charming, and Pebbles prepared us a very adequate breakfast or either continental or cooked or both. The rooms were warm and nicely decorated and the beds very comfortable with white crisp sheets. Only a short walk from the square and the Menin Gate and good choice of restaurants. All in all an excellent venue and we would love to go again sometime.

I am a regular visitor to The Salient . Normally I stay at the Novotel but this time I went with 3 friends on a budget so chose The Ambrosia . It was only after a day I realised this was the old Shell Hole hotel . Vincent and his wife have done a fantastic job on renovating the hotel , which is now unrecognisable as the tired hotel it once was
. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable . The freshly cooked breakfast was excellent when you consider it is included in the price ( Novotel charge an extra €20 ! ) . My only moan was the parking when it can be difficult to find a space near the hotel . That said once you get to know the one way system you can eventually find a space . To summarise this is a well run superb hotel close to the town centre at an incredible price . The Ambrosia will be my hotel of choice for next years visits .

What more could you possibly ask for when in Ypres. Add to that comfortable rooms, clean and well appointed. A breakfast to die for, fresh juice, cereals, croissants and bacon & eggs. Followed by most importantly cups of decent coffee. Only a 3 min. walk from the main square where most of the good eating places are situated & another 3 min. to the Menin Gate. We stayed 2 nights and I would not hesitate to do so again, if I ever return.

Battlefield tour was excellent & a must for any visitor. Especially Passchendaele.

Room Tip: There is free parking reasonably close by. Staff will only be too happy to direct you.

Managed to get a room for one night whilst stopping off at Ypres en route back to the uk. Very clean hotel. Small but enough space for our needs. Sign posted from the main square the hotel is down a side street and the Iwona the lady that runs it was most helpful in advising us where we could park free. Breakfast was bacon, eggs and toast and there were cereals, pastries and fruit too. The Menin gate is only a few minutes walk away and past the chocolate shops on the way.
We would definitely stay here again
