This has to be one of the best small hotels we have ever stayed in. Our room on the ground floor, with its own terrace in the courtyard, was large, comfortable and stylishly decorated. The hotel is well-placed for the centre, ie. the market square, the museum and the Menin Gate, and parking was not a problem either. Breakfast was a feast of fresh fruit, pastries/bread, home-made jams and hot food dishes.
Drinks in the room were free of charge. Carinne is a wonderful host and has thought of everything a traveller requires. Altogether an exceptional place, I wish we had been staying longer

Lovely, characterful, spacious and very comfortable rooms; an excellent location; delicious breakfasts; and a very friendly host who spoke fluent English. I slept wonderfully and very much enjoyed the large wet room style bathroom too. I cannot think of anything at all that I would improve. This hotel richly deserves the awards it has won.

Room Tip: I stayed in Experiment which was a really quiet and spacious room. PS I have graded the fitness...

The owner is a lovely lady who speaks several languages. We stayed in the Pottery room which is on the ground floor and has it's own private terrace. I'm usually a poor sleeper but the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in anywhere (including my own). Everything in the room is of high quality from the bed linen to the bathroom fittings. No detail has been overlooked and every aspect of your comfort has been considered. There is a free minibar in the room which included a half bottle of champagne plus range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and even Chocolate snacks. Great coffee machine with choice of coffees and a some savoury snacks. Breakfast was most enjoyable and included a range of home made breads, preserves, meats and cheeses. Also a choice of cooked breakfasts which were made to order so no rubbery scrambled eggs in sight.
Hotel is well situated close to Ypres centre and within walking distance of Menin gate and museums. Despite being close to the towns amenities the area was quiet and though the name Main Street may make you think it will be a very busy road, this was not the case when we visited.
The owner is happy to help with suggestions of places to eat or visit and has many visitor attraction leaflets available in different languages should you want them.
There is a car park straight across the road from the hotel which has a couple of Disabled bays and several standard bays. We had no trouble parking. The hotel is small (only 5 rooms I believe) and doesn't have a lift so if you have a problem with stairs I'd suggest booking one of the ground floor rooms. If we visit Ypres again we would certainly come back to this hotel, it's a little gem

Room Tip: no lift so if stairs are a problem choose the ground floor rooms

We've just returned from a 5 week trip touring France and Belgium and the Main Street Hotel is a standout favourite. It's hard to define what makes this hotel so special. For us it would be Carinne's warm hospitality and the beautifully decorated rooms (my taste leads more to minimalist but our room, Glory, was just wonderful. I adored it!). In addition the breakfast served was so delicious and plentiful, parking was easy and it was a very pleasant, easy walk to the centre of town.

My regret is that we were only able to stay for 1 night and coming from Australia, we're unlikely to return to this beautiful hotel. However, we highly recommend it to others visiting Ieper and suggest you plan to stay much longer than we did.

I stayed at the Main street Hotel for 3 nights in May.I had come from Dukes Palace 5* hotel in Bruges. The management and staff from Dukes need to visit this hotel to find out what Service means ,what Helpful means and what Welcome means.
This Hotel is really beautiful we had a room on the ground floor ,it was really very big and well set out in a sort of industrial theme..The bathroom was one of the beat and most lavish one can find and we had a private patio outside with table and chairs.
The breakfast was superb. The owner was a very friendly person and had great knowledge of the area and was very easy to talk to.
This is a great hotel in the true sense of hospitality,if you want a gym/pool/spa go to a health club
if you want somewhere to stay go to the Main Street.
I think the problem with this hotel will be that it will become impossible to get a room

Room Tip: The ground floor is great as you get your own patio + you are very near the Honesty bar

This is something you can't miss, when going to Ieper! I slept in a room called Glory, and it was fantastic! Room was streight from a fairytale.
Brekfast was very good, and the hotel owner at your service at all the time. Highly recommend. I'll for sure go there again next year during the Ypres Rally.

I stayed at this hotel for a week in May 2014. As a very experienced international traveler I generally use the large chains, but on occasion use smaller hotels when visiting locations away from bigger cities. I can say without hesitation that this is one of the best places I have used, in terms of the general ambiance, decor of both the public rooms and the bedrooms, and the quality of the breakfasts (which use almost entirely local and home-made produce).
If you're looking for valet parking in underground car parks, swimming pools or gyms, then this is not for you. However if you want something genuinely local and - yes - "arty", then this is for you. And check out the reviewer ratings - I can't remember seeing any other 100%, which is what it remains as of today. Tells you all you need to know.
