“Great price, great location.”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

Last time we visited Ypres we stayed in an apartment but as we we travelling with friends we needed something bigger and opted for the Hampshire O and I'm so glad we did. Great location just off the square but still really quiet.
Yes the rooms are painted a dark colour because of the theme but I've never seen so many lights so this is absolutely not a problem. Both rooms were a good size with loads of storage and nice and clean. The showers are really big with load of hot water.
The rooms have a fridge, air con, a coffee machine, kettle and safe, everything you could ask for.
Breakfast is plentiful and the machine down there does a lovely milky coffee or cappuccino.
If you stay here you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: High floors are best because of the wooden floors.

The title says it all as this centrally located hotel exceeded all expectations. Clean, quiet, spacious rooms and extremely helpful staff..wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Also able to rent a bicycle to explore surrounding area....great hair dryer

Room Tip: There is no pool or fitness centre but I didn't expect one

We arrived at Hotel Regina to be told we'd been 'upgraded'. We were walked around the corner to Hotel O. Firstly, the owner Kris is awesome! Such a helpful guy. Helped with dinner reservations, loan bicycles, a bike route. Seriously he was outstanding. The hotel itself is quirky, across two buildings and in a WW2 Kakhi military GI style which is not to my taste. That said, our room was comfy, clean and great value. Coffee machine in room along with kettle. Overlooks Cloth Hall so location can't be beaten!

The owners of the hotel are very welcoming and most helpful if we are in the area again we will definitely return. Breakfast was good and plenty to choose from over looking the roof terrace. Coffee machine in the rooms is an added bonus .

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have amazing views of the square

There were two of us travelling together and we ended up in separate rooms on different floors in two buildings, which was a bit odd, but the lovely new owners made up for any strangeness of the hotel. They were not in the least strange and could not be more helpful and kind. Oddly, some of our friends stayed in the same hotel the next night and said the same thing about how fabulous the staff were. The rooms are clean, fresh, warm, well-maintained and modern, with very good bathroom facilities, and a great location. Breakfast is good and the coffee excellent. On the downside our rooms were very small and rather dark (as they run with a WWI theme and use lots of green and dark brown paints). All up, we had a lovely stay and were amused by getting lost every time we tried to visit each other!!! Recommended.

Upon arrival, the reception was not staffed (to keep our luggage) until check-in time at 2 PM. We phoned to the hotel, but got an answering machine. We got back at 2 PM, but still no one was available, had to wait for another ten minutes. This seems to be daily routine in this so-called hotel that does not provide a hotel service.

Our bedroom was big and overlooked the Lakenhalle. The renovation of this old attic room was bric-a-brac. We had 2 small uncomfortable beds, only a bath and not even installed to take a shower in the bath, a very dirty old linoleum bathroomfloor and nothing to keep the towels off that floor, yuk. We enjoyed the continental breakfast, with yummie bread, rolls and fresh fruit salad. All the staff was shared with hotel Regina nearby. We saw the staff running from one place to the other the whole day. They ran out of teabags during breakfast, so staff had to go to the other hotel to get some. I had almost finished my breakfast by the time they got me something to drink... In the end, we paid 100 euro per night, which was more than enough for the service delivered.

Great location, clean, fabulous bed, lovely breakfast. What more could you want. Great price too when compared with other hotels. It may be a little dark in places but i think they have sone a great job.

Ill be back next year.
