I had very limited time to visit the battlefields and contacted Camalou two months prior to my planned weekend excursion from England to discuss options. We agreed on a few areas that I would be interested in and the tour cost. Christian collected me from Lille and entertained me on the way to Hill 60 where we met Annette with another small group. Annette then took three of us around areas that we were jointly interested in. She had many interesting facts and human interest stories to help us get a feel for what those soldiers may have experienced and to see the situation from their perspective. She included the Belgium perspective too and the reparation efforts post wars. Very different situation for Europeans from the isolation New Zealanders are familiar with. The tour van is just a nice size and we got a good view of the local area. Christian and Annette have great contacts in the area too and can point you towards other interests like accommodation, the great beer, food and chocolate and the Menin Gate ceremony. Great value and I would recommend you talk to these people about your plans.
