We stayed two nights at the B&B and enjoyed meeting Nancy, Dirk, and their two younger daughters who were in their final year of high school. Our room was well appointed. Because there wasn't a door between the bathroom and the bedroom (which didn't bother us), Nancy offered the use of a folding screen if we wanted to use it (which we didn't). The location of the B&B was an easy walk to town, and Nancy had copies of maps and other materials about Ieper and Poperinge for us to borrow. Free parking was available on the street right in front of the B&B. Upon arrival, we were offered our choice of welcome drinks from the in-room fridge; we chose two bottles of delicious beer (Omer by Bocker). (Note: For those who have mobility issues, you might find the stairs to the second floor steep.)
Breakfasts were ample and provided a panoply of treats, many of which were locally made. Nancy even put on the cheeses little toothpick flags denoting what kind of cheeses they were. Everything was exactly as mentioned by previous reviewers, and Nancy made us eggs to order. In fact, the offerings were so ample that we spent an hour enjoying our meal! The first morning, we were the only guests, so we had the luxury of engaging Nancy in conversation and learned that she and her husband came from small villages nearby. That evening, while we were enjoying a dinner of homemade pate and other delicious items from the nearby charcuterie and bakery in the common room, we met a couple from Ghent who were checking in. They gave us some suggestions on breweries to visit on the route to and around Bouillon. Later, Dirk joined us at the table so we had a great conversation with him. On the morning, we left, we had yet another wonderful breakfast, this time joined by the Ghent couple.
Should your travels ever take you to Ieper, definitely stay at the B&B @Room's! Dankuwel, Nancy and Dirk, for your hospitality and your special gift.
