“Country Atmosphere with City Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

Although we were a few Kms out of the city, our stay at Flanders Lodge was great. The bar had a lovely family feel and we met our Boomers on Tour travellers there each night before a delicious dinner for drinks. So much fun. Very economical, spacious but still classy. We'll book again next year for sure.

Room Tip: Try not to be at the far end of the hall unless privacy is an issue, then its perfect.

Triple room with three comfortable single beds. No problems at all. Very clean and agreeable. Good WiFi. Nice bar, handy restaurant (we ate out of choice). Purpose of our stay was Ypres town, Cloth Hall, Menin Gate etc but we found on arrival it was a bit too far to walk into town. About a mile with some part of main road without pavement so drove. Easy parking anyway. Plenty of parking space a hotel. This small disappointment did not spoil the stay at all.

I stayed for three nights last week & thought the hotel was lovely. Room was spacious and clean, and the staff were very helpful too. Would recommend it. Very close to the Menin Gate and other War memorials and places of interest

Hotel ideal place to go to the ww1 battlefield sites. Nicely decorated. Rooms are quite spacious for the area. Food very nice. Beer quite cheap. Breakfast very nice, not rushed at all in the hotel.parking not too bad. About a ten minute walk into Ypres.

This is a relatively cheap hotel including breakfast. The rooms are clean, tidy and quiet. It tends to attract bus groups which puts a huge strain on breakfast and wifi. Breakfast was mass produced boarding school style food. We stayed two nights but unfortunately the wifi crashed part way through the first night and never returned. We did enquire about why it didn't work but the desk attendant dismissed our enquiries and said hers was working quite well so it must have been the large number of people staying at the lodge. Needless to say, nothing happened.

We were a group of 4, and we all found this hotel to be clean and comfortable, and the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. Our room was a good size, modern, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Added to this, its quiet location on the outskirts of town proved to be a bonus. We took the set meal in the dining room as we were quite late back from the ceremony at the Menen Gate, and it was very good and extremely good value. The waitress was kindness itself, and we have absolutely no complaints about our stay here. I'd recommend it.

We where a group of 10 and used the Best Western Flanders Lodge as our base for a 5 day Battlefield tour of Ypres, Vimy Ridge, Azincourt and Waterloo.

We booked the hotel about 6 months ago and I called the Hotel a few days before we where due to arrive to let them know that we would be arriving late. when we did arrive it was about 22:00hrs and we where met by a member of staff who was very helpful. However, he did tell us that the rooms that we had been given where doubles, even though we had booked twin rooms, he soon sorted it out and we where given 5 twin rooms. (Rooms 2,4,6,8, and 10)

We all found the rooms good, comfortable and very clean, the showers was very good along with very comfortable beds. Not easy to please 10 serving and ex-servicemen. The Bar was good and friendly and Marc the Barman was very helpful, it was a nice place to end the day with a cold beer and good banter with other guests.

Breakfast was a mix of continental and British style (I think this is due to the amount of guests that are British that stay here. your room number is placed on the breakfast table so when you walk in look for your table number and don't sit at another table unless you want to feel the Roth of the staff.

They do food in the hotel during the evening and there is a Restaurant within the hotel and has a good choice of food, you can also eat in the bar, there is a small bar menu, we ate in Ypres on an evening and there are a large amount of bars and restaurants to choose from, but do have a look around before you pick the one you want. some reviewers on here say its about a 20 min walk to and from the centre of Ypres, well it could be if you take your time... we found it only took us around 10 mins. yes there is only 1 taxi owner in Ypres but there are others from outside of the area and will cost. but if you are happy to wait for that 1 Ypres taxi... then it will only cost around 10 euros and the taxi takes 6 people.

Over all we found the Best Western Flanders Lodge a great hotel, the staff where very friendly and most helpful, you will see some reviews on here that give the hotel a bad review, well all I can say take them with a pinch of salt...... you can not please every one.... we had a great stay and would defo use this hotel again.
