If you can choose to do this on a clear day, and you are fit enough to cope with the 250+ steps, the you'll be rewarded with fine views of Ieper town and the surrounding countryside and Great War battlefields.
At the top, the walkway is narrow and not really suitable for those with limited manoeuvrability.
However, there are clear and useful information boards on each of the four sides of the tower, describing near and distant locations.
Our visit occurred on a damp day, and so although we had reasonable views of the town centre, the distant countryside was somewhat lost.
Overall, however, I'd recommend this experience, and I'm sure we'll do it again in better weather.
