Owner description: The Ypres region was the backdrop to on of the bloodiest battles in history, 100 years ago. Now the last witness have died too, the In Flanders Fields Museum is more than ever the gateway to the First World War in Flanders. The In Flanders Fields Museum confronts the visitor with the consequences of the Great War. Old and young are faced with life and death in the Ypres front region. The exhibition with touching video projects, unique sound fragments and the most up-to-date multimedia applications immerse you in the life at the front. each visitor also receives a poppy bracelet that enables him/her to discover four personal stories of 'Joe Public' in the Great War. By logging in you can meet your peers in the war, a century ago.

This is a stunning Museum and an essential visit for anyone seeking greater understanding of the events in WW1.Make sure you give yourself time to take advantage of of what the Museum has to offer.I would recommend three hours. This is an exceptional resource for the experienced historians and those who are attempting to make sense of the carnage that we call the 'great war'

This has recently undergone a complete refurbishment of the highest quality and it is one of the best museums about WW1 I have visited. It explains very well all about the battles that took place in the area, using some great technology. The panoramas of the countryside that overlay the wartime with current views is especially good, as you can see exactly where things took place. The virtual reality character exhibits are brilliant and very well done. There are lots of interactive screens, and you can literally spend hours in the place.

This is a really impressive museum and sets out the ground well for any subsequent tour of the battle fields. Visited with two children aged 10 and 12 with both taking a great deal from it. Def recommend.

An amazing, moving and fascinating museum.
It really brought the First World War to life, in the same way WW2 often is.
The displays, information, film and the concept is first class.

I would recommend going early!

We visited this museum with Belgian friends. This is a 1st class museum...everything is well done. The background music is so appropriate and sets the mood of your visit. The short film about the Silent Night Truce is touching but the best film is about the British doctor and nurses (sisters). This should not be missed!! The museum is Interactive and keeps you engaged during your entire visit. Will definitely try and visit again.
