A delightful stop-over. There was a warm welcome and a spacious and comfortable room to greet us. Bed made for a good sleep. En suite clean and well provided. Generous breakfast spread, with option for cooked eggs and bacon. No parking on site, but it was not hard to find an alternative just around the corner and being only a few minutes from the centre of town more than made up for it. Peter was a wealth of local knowledge, stories and advice and was always ready to help out in any way he could. Great location for exploring Ypres and surrounds - so much more to see than we originally thought. We have Ypres and Demi Lune on our return list. Peter, Greet and family made us feel right at home.

The demi-lune is well placed to reach the town centre via a 5 minute stroll. Parking is easily available and the rooms excellent. The breakfast was very good and well prepared and the advice in particular about local attractions and sites was invaluable. Peter let us borrow a couple of guides and he has a picture on the wall of the breakfast area of his great grandfather and his father creating the lion that is on top of the Menin gate.

Room Tip: ours had a bathroom with no door - all very liberal but a bit of logistics were required between my...

Easy walking distance from town centre and all the pubs and restaurants, breakfast good selection and freshly cooked.
Beds nice quality, showers and bathroom area nice, shame about the gaps on the edge of the laminate flooring (rm 102), single glazed window and main road right outside meant woke up at 5am by traffic noise, get secondary glazing to stop this and I would have marked it higher.
Owner rang me later asking for key, I know I had left it by the comment book, but no call back to say they found it.
Wifi worked well on iPad but rubbish on laptop,....

Room Tip: Ask for quiet rooms at back

Charming & friendly hosts at this B&B, very knowledgable about this beautiful city's history. Centrally located - beautifully appointed. Highly recommend this guesthouse. Stopped in Ypres as part of our tour of the world war battle fields as we travelled through France. The Last Post at the Menin Gate simply a must to experience.

Very friendly host whose English was excellent, made us feel very welcome. Excellent location being just a 5 minute walk to the centre. Large room with a comfy bed and ensure shower/toilet. Breakfast was excellent - had the full English while others went the continental/boiled egg route. Helped to make this an unforgettable but all too short visit to a beautiful city.

Nice place to stay, not far away from the market place. Warm welcome and if you need something, let them know, they`ll try their best to fulfill it. For breakfast you can also order some special items.

I visited Ypres with my partner and some family to find a relative's name on the nearby Menin Gate. Peter is an exceptionally warm, friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable hotelier who seems to genuinely enjoy running this business. We didn't ask a lot, but it seemed as though nothing would be too much trouble for him to help with. The rooms were comfortable and if we are back in the area, we wouldn't even bother to look for anywhere else to stay. We opted for the continental breakfast, but were still asked if we'd like any bacon and eggs cooked for us. We noticed (but didn't hear) some hens in the garden area, so you know the eggs are laid fresh and free-range if that is something that matters to you. We had three of the five rooms and were the only people staying at the hotel that night (something we still can't understand due to the enjoyment of our stay!). Myself and girlfriend stayed in room 103, which is - only slightly - the most expensive in the building. My brother stayed in the room opposite, whilst my mother stayed in one of the rooms upstairs (not sure on the other room numbers). They were both happy with their rooms as well. All were of a very generous size. Some reviewers mention that the toilets on some rooms don't have doors. In our room at least it is a sort of cubicle in the corner which is an odd arrangement at first I'll admit, but just not what you are used to. Posed absolutely no problems, and being enclosed, it isn't as though you're in full view whilst sitting on the loo or anything like that. There is no dedicated car park, but plenty of off-road parking available on Hoge Wieltjesgracht. The market square is just an easy 5min walk away, with the Menin Gate just under 10mins walk away. I'd definitely recommend visiting it in the evening when the local fire brigade perform The Last Post - highly poignant. During our visit, the market square was holding a bustling winter market which was an added bonus. Nice mulled wine along with some to-die-for waffles! All in all a most pleasant stay.
