Every night at 8pm there is a memorable service and the laying of wreaths. It can get very crowded so we went up the ramparts and watched the wreath laying near the steps inside the gate. The names engraved on the memorial reveals how far soldiers travelled to fight and die in this tiny part of Belgium. The daily event reveals that the local people will never forget the impact and tragedy of the 20th century wars.
