“Clean, comfortable and close to the action.”
Reviewed 16 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

The house was wonderful. It was clean, well decorated and of a high quality.
We were met on arrival, very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Especially like the "first round" on the owners!
Less than 5 minutes walk from the Menin Gate and the town. But a quiet street.

“Grey geezers on WW1trail”
Reviewed 13 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We have stayed in Ypres a number of occasions but this was the first time we stayed in self catering accommodation. The house has been modernised very tastefully and to a high level. On entering the house the impression is one of space and light. It was very restful and we four guys in our 60's really enjoyed the facilities on offer. We enjoyed the spacious layout and will return here rather than staying at hotels. The location is absolutely brilliant and Johan, the owner, is very welcoming. He has compiled a comprehensive book of information that details how to use all the electrical equipment and the location of shops and facilities.

“Fabulous home from home in a convenient and central location.”
Reviewed 6 January 2016 for a stay in December 2014

This was our second stay and just as memorable as the first. The house is extremely spacious and very well presented, a real home from home. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the square where the Flanders Fields Museum is located along with a good choice of shops and restaurants. Also a short walk to the Menin Gate to witness the last post, a very humbling experience. We were there for New Year and there was a Christmas market with skating rink in the square which was an added treat. It is also handy for visiting the many local war cemeteries plus convenient for trips to Brugges and surrounding areas. The local people are most welcoming and friendly and it is definitely a place to visit. Looking forward to visit number 3!

“Very clean, spacious, homely house, in very good location.”
Reviewed 14 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

Within 4 minutes walk to the market square and 6 to the Menin Gate. There are bars and shops within 2 minutes walk. Great host Johan, showed us all the good facilities which are all clearly documented in the welcome document. We were even left complementary beers in the fridge. Thank you Johan, we are coming back if you allow it.

“Centrally located - fine town house”
Reviewed 10 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Lovely house in excellent condition and within very close walking distance of Ypres town centre ( 3 minutes walk to Menin Gate). Linen good quality. Clean. WiFi. T.V. Well stocked kitchen. Not always parking nearby but plenty of free parking within 5 minute walk of house in very safe areas - we didn't feel there was a problem leaving our vehicles out of sight of the house. A good choice - certainly recommend this to our friends. Deposit returned within 24 hours. Johan, the owner , met us on arrival and departure - nice chap - straight forward to deal with. 2 lovely bottles of the local brew left on arrival - nice touch - thank you.

“Abacus House is in short a fantastic house in a perfect central location!!”
Reviewed 24 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

A truly brilliant 3 story house in a perfect quiet location a stones throw from the town center.

Beautifully presented in every way you would have great difficulty finding anything to fault.
Johan was the perfect host, there to meet us on out arrival, he explained where everything was and how it worked it appears that nothing is too much trouble for this man, we needed to check out at 7am and he was there with a smile on his face!

There are detailed instruction books for the house and guides to the local area which were a great help.

The house is bright, beautifully decorated and furnished to a very high standard with amazing high ceilings, the owners have spared no expense in making this a comfortable and inviting home from home with very comfortable beds.

Abacus house is situated a 2 minute walk from the town center Cloth Market, Cathedral and Flanders Fields museum and about a 5 minute walk from Menine Gate. There are a great selection of restaurants and bars on your doorstep.

The owners are easy to deal with and though the deposit is higher than some of the other properties in the area dont be put off it reflects the quality of the furnishings and fixtures, our deposit was returned in full the very next day

Next time we are back in Ypres we will definitely be staying at Abacus House again.

The only amenity that we found lacking was that there was no washing machine.
