Reviewed 27 June 2014

Found this B&B through all the good reviews on the site and our choice was correct. Veronique is an excellent host and keen to ensure you make the most of your visit to the area. Just far enough out of the centre to be quite but 5 minute walk takes you to the main square.

Recent changes to car parking arrangements mean you can no longer park adjacent to the property other than to drop off bags. Not easy to spot but drive through the bridge cross the roundabout and there is a road to your right and there is new free parking behind the group of shops 2-3 minute walk.

Stayed here following a recommendation. In a good location , just past Lille Gate and pub. Yet only 5 mins into the town. Room was very clean great beds and shower. Breakfast was all you need and very fresh. Loved the white rolls! Eggs and bacon too order and I must praise the scrambled eggs. We were able to have the push bikes secure in the garage.

Great quiet place to stay when doing the WW1 tour.

The B&B is in a great location about 5 minutes from the Menin Gate. The owner is very welcoming and coffee and a cake on arrival was most welcome. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. You can park for free a couple of minutes walk away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back as they are quieter.

lovely welcome by Veronique and Michael with tea, coffee and cake. On check in offered information on the local area, with maps and excellent restaurant recommendations. Hired bicycles one day and enjoyed a peaceful cycle along the canal with a packed lunch prepared by Veronique. Nothing was too much trouble would definetly recommend

This was our third stay so ther must be someting good. Not again is the location perfect for a visit to Ieper and the historical sites, it is also a very comfortable stay, very welcoming and quite spacious rooms. Not in the centre of town, but within walking distance of the market place and Menin gate. Good breakfast with fresh products, in short a perfect stay for a visit to Ieper.
Beware that a lot of b&b's will open in Ieper in 2014, Hortensia is genuine and will not dissapoint.

Room Tip: If one is a light sleeper, one should ask a room at the backside, because the front in on a road. Fo...

Unbelievable, but Ypres is actually a modern city. It has been rebuilt to mirror its previous existence over the last hundred years after near total annhilation following the Great War of 1914 - 1918, when it sustained devastating bombardment in its position in the Ypres Salient. Situated within the old City wall of that part of the remains of the old Vauban Fort, still standing and restored after the Great War. Located within easy walking distance of the Cloth Hall (5 minutes) and the Menin Gate (8 minutes and a must see when there - the Last Post). We were told to treat the house as if we were home and the owners meant it. Bedroom with ensuite shower-room was recently decorated and comfortable in a minimalist style and even had a kettle provided (as well as free wifi connection). Well priced tariff gave an inclusive continental breakfast, but we were also offered scrambled eggs and bacon! The house offers packed lunches, cycle hire and even trips around the battlefields can be arranged if desired. on street parking is chargeable between 0900 hrs and 1800 hrs but free parking is available on off streets if
