“Perfect home from home”

I stayed at this B&B in late May for a couple of nights with my Father-in-law as we booked a short trip to see some of the WW1 memorial and battlefield sites. The B&B was perfect. We took both the upstairs rooms which were both extremely comfortable, well-appointed and clean (always my number 1 requirement when staying away!)

Most impressive of all however was the welcome from our hosts, Paul & Mimi, a lovely couple who run the B&B as a labour of love. Breakfasts were amazing (with doggy bags provided to encourage you to take away supplies for the day!) Paul's knowledge of the local area was really helpful to us and influenced some of what we decided to do.

B&B Potze is a 10 Euro taxi ride from the centre of town.

Having never visited Belgium before, we read reviews on Tripadvisor and decided to stay for four nights at De Potyze. This was probably one of the best decisions we have ever made.
The hosts, Paul and Mimi, are so very welcoming, friendly, generous and knowledgeable about how to make the most of your time in Belgium. Fabulous breakfast with omelettes and a vast array of fruit, yoghurt, bread, pastries, cheese, ham etc.
Our bedroom (1) had twin beds and a curtained area with a shower and sink. Loads of towels provided and toiletries too. The toilet is along the landing and is shared with room 2. We don't normally like this arrangement but it is a small price to pay for staying in such an outstanding place.
The gardens are immaculate and great for sitting out with a beer. There's a shared lounge/mezzanine area, where teas, coffees and chocolates are provided.
If we returned to this area we would not consider staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: We chose room 1 because it was ensuite. It does not have a bath but we prefer showers.

We stayed at De Poytze for a long weekend in Ypres, using it as a base from which to ride our bikes across the countryside of Flanders. From when we arrived to the moment we left, Paul and his wife Mimi we the perfect hosts. We could store our bikes safely, and stock up on the calories needed to ride across Flanders from the generous breakfast, including special omelettes from Paul, shower in luxury, sleep in warm beds and learn about the area and the people who have lived in it from our hosts. We had a sense that both Paul and Mimi look upon the people that stay with them as part of their family whilst you are with them and that value goes into the way that they look after you. After cycling the roads of Flanders, Paul even offered to drive us into Ypres on both nights, ensuring that we could sample the food and beer - with recommendations on where to eat.
I'm not sure that there is anything else you could want from a bed and breakfast. Highly, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Don't worry about the one room that doesn't have on-suite. The bathroom that you do use it f...

Very modern and comfortable accommodation serviced by attentive hosts Mimi and Paul. Superb location to tour the salient and visit Ypres starting out each day with a breakfast to die for. Highly recommended.

This is the first time I have written in Trip Advisor and I have been decided to do so having stumbled on this truly excellent B and B. The location is perfect to be able to walk into Ypres, whilst being surrounded by attractive countryside. The rooms are very comfortable and both the house and its garden are beautiful. However, the real strength of this B and B are the lovely owners, Paul and Mimi. They make you feel incredibly welcome in their home and are full of interesting stories about the area and the history associated with Ypres. The breakfast is truly indulgent - Mimi's waffles and Paul's omelettes are definitely worth a second stay! I cannot recommend De Potyze more highly.

We stayed with two friends and took two motorbikes,(which we were able to keep in the garage locked away at night), and this was our second time with Paul & Mimi.Yet again we had a great stay. They are two lovely people and cannot do enough for you. The rooms and bathrooms are spottless and the breakfast amazing, especially Paul's cheesey chive ommlettes and Mimi's waffles!!
We would reccommend this B&B to anyone and will certainly be back soon!Thank you for a lovely few days!!

We were lucky to find this B&B. MiMi and Paul were charming, friendly and a great source of information re: Ypres. He has done an impeccable job renovating an old farm house. It was clean and perfect. They served a huge breakfast and sent us on our way with sandwiches for lunch.
It is a great location to return to the city and witness the very moving ceremony in memory of the fallen in WW1. It is also a good location to visit the surrounding cemeteries and war memorials. I wish we had had more time to stay several days. This accommodation is a treat!

Room Tip: Only 2 double rooms. Make a reservation in advance if you know your schedule.
