“Fabulous accommodation in perfect location”
Reviewed 8 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We've just arrived back home after a five night stay in Ypres at de Buur van Beer and cannot praise it highly enough. The accommodation is beautifully designed with the sort of attention to detail you could expect from an architect. Kristof and Fien are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Ypres is an attractive town with a good selection of shops, restaurant and of course the Flanders Fields museum. Our highlights were trips to the beach and Bruges (busy in August but worth it) and of course the incredibly moving visits to Flanders Fields and Zonnebecke museums, the ceremony at the Menen Gate and the extraordinary Tyne Cot Cemetry. This was a family holiday but one my wife and I had wanted to do due to historical interest and despite some misgivings from our 13 year old daughter and 16 year old son who'd visited the area previously on a school trip, we found that there was lots to do in the immediate area and within a short drive - we wish we had stayed longer. Paul's Boutique in the town was great for burgers and Captain Cook for Pizzas.Hopefully we'll return!

“Excellent accommodation - highly recommended”

This house was everything we had dreamed of and more for our holiday. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and well appointed. Having two bathrooms was handy as there were four of us including two teenagers. The sauna in the basement was the icing on the cake! The house was located only a few minutes walk from Ieper's town centre and the Menin Gate, and the beautiful walk around the ramparts was almost just outside the door. The secure parking was also a bonus. I had been worried that I couldn't pay using a credit card and had to use money transfer as there had been reports of holiday scams in the papers at the time I made the booking, but everything was totally in order. Kristof and Fien were excellent hosts. I have already recommended this house to friends.

“A very lovely 3 story townhouse, situated in a very quiet area of Leper”

This is a very lovely 3 story townhouse, situated in a very quiet area of Leper, next to the city wall. It is only a 3 minute, picturesque walk along the city wall, to the Menin Gate, and just 5 minutes to the inspiring Market square. There are two fantastic bakeries, and well stocked supermarkets within that same area, as well as restauarants, bars, shops etc, but we self catered.
The house is very comfortable, well laid out, with very good facilities. The TV receives BBC 1 and 2, should you wish to keep in touch with what is happening at home, as well as numerous other European channels. The there is a wi fi connection, which is very helpful when planning for the days touring.
Kristof was very helpful during booking. Fien was there to greet us on arrival and to show us around the house. A particularly nice touch was the couple of fantastic Belgium beers that were left for us!
There is easily accessible private parking to the rear of the house, making loading/unloading easy.
Kristof and Fien have left a number of local guidebooks, together with numerous tourist information flyers, to ensure that you get the most out of your stay. It is ideally located for exploring First World War sites.
Kristof and Fien request 200 euro on arrival for paying for utilities. With five of us, using cooking, dishwashing, TV, showers etc on a daily basis, we only used about £25 of utilities for our entire 5 day stay. Very reasonable.
We had a great time, and would definitely visit again.
