Adriana had a dream: She wanted to create the cosy atmosphere of an Alpine Chalet, offer typical Swiss classics like Fondue and Raclette and some special delikatessen, and all of that in her home city of San José, Costa Rica. Sounds great, but is very difficult to do, because you hardly find the right ingredients and requisites. But if you know Adriana you know that this Lady is determined. She persevered, studied recipes, Cheese qualities, design patterns, business plans, caquelon options and finally fulfilled her dream.
La Fondue offers a variety of starters, salads, soups, different types of Cheese fondues as well as Fondue bourguignonne (meat fondue, cooked) and Fondue Chinoise (thin cuts of meat which you cook in a broth), raclette and other Alpine classics.The cosy atmosphere and rustic decoration is at least as important as the quality of the food and the professional service: As in Switzerland, the fondue-lovers gather around a stove in the middle of the table on which the fondue is cooked in "Caquelon" (fondue-couldron). The motto of the restaurant is "together it's more fun"!
Adriana's personal commitment and enthusiasm makes the place so special: We visited at the beginning of advent. Sure enough we received a special treat at the end of the meal with the espresso: typical Swiss Christmas cookies ("Zimtsterne")! We only missed the snow! What an exotic surprise in tropical San José!
