Went to the Staffordshire Knot on the 25th April as part of my Stag Doo. We arrived in Sheen, staying at the Sheen Bunkhouse up the road, ready for a drink. Walking to the pub we were disappointed to find the pub was closed. We had a look through the pub window, as their website stated they opened at Noon. As we did this a pleasant lady came out of the adjoining house and asked if we wanted the pub open! We took her up on the offer and went in for a cheeky pint. Hartingtons IPA mmmmmm. While in there we were asked if we wanted any food and that if was no problem to put the cooker on! I had a meatball sandwich which was lovely. As more of the Stag Party turned up, each was welcomed and more pints consumed. The landlady asked us if we were interested in coming back to the pub for a meal in the evening, as if not she wouldn't open the pub. We decided that we would after looking at the menu. We pre-ordered our food and went on our merry way for the day. We arrived back at 7:30 to the lovely smell of cooking food! We had ordered a pint and sat down, and 10 minutes later our starters arrived. Now that is service. The food we had was top quality and considering the Landlady was working alone that night, the presentation and standard was out of this world. Every time we needed a drink she came out to serve us. This service we received was just what we needed to start the weekend in the right way! I can't recommend this Pub enough. If you are anywhere near Sheen, go and frequent the Staffordshire Knot - you won't be disappointed!

We came to the Staffordshire Knot on a cold Saturday bank holiday evening, when there was 'no room at the Inn' at the main local eateries. We were camping in Hulme End and had not booked for an evening meal at the local hostelry which turned out to be full, so we ventured into Hartington to see what was on offer, but to our dismay everywhere there was fully booked too. We had earlier passed the sign to the Staffordshire Knot, so we headed back in the hope that as it was more remote, they would be likely to have a table available. We were wrong, it was very busy and all the tables were occupied but still we were invited to wait. As it would have been very cold in the tent with just a cup of soup for nourishment, we settled down at the bar with a couple of drinks. How lucky were we? Although it was almost 10pm when we ate, we enjoyed a delicious freshly cooked meal. This was not pub grub, more restaurant dining. The staff were friendly and the landlady/chef was incredibly hospitable despite what must have been a very intense shift in the kitchen. We cannot recommend this place highly enough, finding it was a very happy accident. Thank you.

Can't recommend this one enough. My husband and I stumbled across the Staffordshire Knot on a hike, had a pint and came back with the rest of our family and friends for an astonishing, freshly-made delicious dinner. Pub decor is inviting and very old-world without being precious.. Again, food was outstanding, service welcoming and first-rate - this is worth a drive from wherever you might be staying in the Peak district and beyond. Book in advance.

We have over the past few years visited the Staffordshire Knot on several occasions. It has never ever disappointed. The food is always of a very high standard, the menu is well thought out and varied. We eat out on a regular basis and this is probably our favourite restaurant.

It is a bit in the middle of nowhere but is definitely worth a visit. We are usually camping in Hulme End and the 2 mile uphill walk to Sheen means that we have more than earned our delicious dinner! The Staffordshire Knot is one of the reasons that we camp in Hulme End. I am quite sure that if we lived nearer we would eat there more than a couple of times a year.

We ate there on Saturday 19th April and opted for the 2 courses at £15.95 per head. I would have loved to have a pudding but just couldn't find the room. Possibly the 2 bottles of wine that we had with our meal was a factor, the Pinot Grigo went down a treat.

I had smoked salmon with asparagus and dill to start, followed by duck breast with black pudding, my partner had the homemade potato and smoky bacon soup followed by fresh salmon and spinach. Both served with a generous selection of vegetables. All the food was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented but above all tasted delicious.

The staff are always lovely, the 2 girls who work there have the right combination of friendliness and efficiency. The chef/owner is clearly a very talented lady who takes great pride in cooking and presenting excellent dishes. Keep up the good work, it really is appreciated.

Like other reviewers I would recommend booking and always checking that it is open.

Beautiful place with an open fire, stone flag floor, rustic furniture and friendly staff followed by the most amazing pork medalions on a creamy stilton and apricot sauce. A wonderful experience and exceptional value for money. Well worth a visit.
