“Breathless views, average food & service”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

No matter how many times we have visited this restaurant, its location and views to the sea and rocks is simply breathless. Nevertheless, we noticed a decline in the quality of the food and service compared to prior years, which is disappointing. Four appetizers and a bottle of Greek wine will set you back around €90, which is not a bargain for the area. As a tip, make sure you reserve a table by the sea, and be there before sunset.

“much better this time round!”
Reviewed 22 June 2013

We ate at this beautiful restaurant last autumn at lunch time, and were rather disappointed, especially as breakfast had not been cleared (at 2 o'clock!) and there were hundreds of hornets feasting on the jam left out. We had therefore to eat indoors, in an attractive room, and were happy enough with the lunch offerings. I remember an excellent white wine made in Kalamata.
We went back in June, also for lunch, and found the outside spotless, tables set for lunch, and a different menu. The lunch menu is described as a 'snack menu' and has 4/5 options. I had fresh grilled prawns from Gytheion, just up the coast, with proper mayonnaise and salad, and my husband had a kind of deconstructed gyros, with smoked pork, brilliantly garlicky tzatziki, chips, salad and home made flat bread. These, with bread, water and a beer, came to 23 euros, which we thought was excellent value. We shall certainly go again, and i would like to try the dinner one day, which is probably where you'd tell the Michelin star input.

“A Quality Restaurant with Exquisite Culinary Creations!”
Reviewed 20 June 2013

We spent 3 days here at Kyrimai and had the opportunity to try the hotel’s cuisine.

BREAKFAST: Normally it is taken at the terrace next to the pool with sounds of the water lapping against the rocky coast below. It is served right to the table, different every day and the variety is rich. It includes homemade pies, breads and cookies, cakes, variety of homemade jams, omelettes, cheese and ham, coffee and the freshest ever orange juice, enough to fill you up for hours. The way breakfast is presented in a huge crystal or porcelain platter counts a lot!

The restaurant of Kyrimai can easily be compared to Top Gourmet restaurants of Athens.
We had dinner here both the two nights and I found it excellent in every way and enjoyed its culinary creations.
Under the supervision and guidance of Michelin starred Chef Yianni Baksevani the restaurant has been highly upgraded. Traditional Greek dishes are presented in a modern innovative twist. The terrace by the water is the perfect setting for romantic candlelit dinners under the stars.
Guests can enjoy their dinners also at the dining room which is just as chic and romantic as outdoors. Matina will surely advice you with her expertise knowledge to choose the right wine from the long wine list.
Elena, the top Supervisor Chef in the kitchen these days is an asset to Kirimai. She surprised us happily with her mouthwatering and exquisite dishes. Both nights the dishes we had were superb.

MENU: Salads are between €10 - €13.Try the Spinach salad and vegetable Spring rolls -simply amazing!
I highly recommend that you try “Fava” with chopped octopus pine nuts, raisins & caramelized pumpkin. It is delicious!

If you are after vegetables don’t miss trying the Caramelized filled aubergine ....it is out of this world in taste and presentation. If you don’t find it on the list ask for it. It was my best dish.
The Small pies stuffed with cream cheese & rose jam €10.00 were also good.
Finally another excellent and very delicious dish that I loved was the local pasta made of carob syrup. It comes with fish of the day or prawns. I forgot exactly how it appears on the menu list. -€18

The Wine list includes some of the best local labels ranking from €17.00 to €45.00.

SNACK MENU: I found it quite economic.
There are two types of salad. The traditional Greek with feta cheese balls and black sesame is the one and the second is the Mixed green salad with fresh fruit and honey vinaigrette. Both cost €8.00
The other option is the Trilogy of Greek dips for €5.50.

Fried local shrimps on fish roe mousse and small herb salad at €10
Souvlaki (kebab) on a pita bread with sliced tomato, onion and tzatziki served with fries cost €9.00.
Fried calamari with smoked aubergine salad €9.50.
There is of course the Dish of the Day which you can ask for.

Desserts vary between €6.00 and €8.00

I tried Baklava with fresh & dry fruit & vanilla ice cream -it was too sweet for my taste but my husband loved it.
We also tried the Cream cheese flavored with mint & jam, but we preferred more the Meringues with warm fruit salad and ice cream.
Fresh fruit served with ice cream cost €6.00

TIP: Guests should have in mind that service in the restaurant can be a bit slow, however the food is definitely worth the wait.

We decided to visit the Kyrimai Hotel in Gerolimenas, Mani just to have breakfast. Unfortunately, our first attempt to do that failed since we arrived at 12:10. Moreover, a young waiter misled us about the breakfast time, telling us that it starts from 8:00 to 12:00. The next day we went at 11:10, which was not ok as another waiter told us that the breakfast lasts until 11:00 for customers who don't stay in the hotel. After complaining for all this fuss, we managed to have breakfast. We were served in a big plate some local delicasies, cake, yogurt, bread and various fresh marmelades. Apart from some untasteful muffins everything was delicious. Note that the amount of food is fixed and you can't have an extra portion without paying. Cost 12 euros/person (beverages included)
