The village, the natural setting, the historical renovated building, the food, the service, are wonderful. Only negative side: the swimming pool doesn't fit, in my opinion, in the unique style of the hotel.

The Kyrimai Hotel is a lovely base from which to explore the Mani peninsula. It is a super boutique hotel in a gorgeous location. Simple yet comfortable.

The choice of rooms makes it quite confusing when booking. We opted for a superior room with shower which was a good size and had a shared terrace outside. The food is great - breakfast is excellent and dinner, though not cheap, is a cut above most Greek meals. Portions are big. There are several (much cheaper) tavernas within walking distance too.

The swimming pool is quite small and the sunbeds a bit cramped together, but the hotel's proximity to the sea makes it more enjoyable to swim in the sea.

Service was generally good, with a few nice touches such as jugs of water being freely provided throughout the day by the pool.

The only downsides are a somewhat unpredictable wifi signal and numerous wasps/hornets buzzing round at breakfast which made us speed-eat a meal which deserved to be savoured!

Those minor inconveniences aside, I would definitely recommend Kyrimai for a relaxing holiday.

A great hotel at the edge of a small peninsula in Gerolimenas- Mani.
The hotel used to be a warehouse the last century, has been restored with great taste and style and with great respect of its tradition. it is clean, quiet and confortable. the restaurant was a panoramic view and it seems that you are on a boat. the food is delicious with many tastes of the local cusine, and the sweets are out of this world. the breakfast, served on your table, is excellent, fresh and as much as it should be. if you are in the area it is worth even a visit and don't forget your snorkeling equipment the sea is few stairs ahead.

Gerolimenas is a unique place itself, but Kyrimai is trully the place to stay if you visit this unique place. Kyrimai is a the old house of an old greek politician and each of it rooms is different. The staff is extremely polite and its restaurant allows to watch the sea through the old window. Food is very good, with the breakfast surpassing by far the 5 star hotel service, as a bouffet is actualy offered on your table.

We visited on 9th August, namely the most croweded week of the year in Greek hotels. That explains some of the problems we faced but not the bad service. So to recap the hotel is situeted in a beautiful village next to the sea. It is an old tower in stones...beautiful! But the rooms we got were TINY (those were the only available when we booked). I understand that when you visit an old tower of Mani you cannot expect a room of 30 sqm however the owner can at least do his best to provide a little bit of comfort ie. The shower was tiny with no glass/ curtain so by the time we had our shower it was transformed to a "swimming pool". There was no place to hang the wet swimming suits or store our shoes (the rooms situated in the courtyard have no private balcony). The cleaning lady almost did not clean (first day i broke a glass deodorant bottle in the room and for the next 2 days the broken glass was still there). Now about the swimming pool...if you dream lying on asundeck all day long then wake up at 8.00 a.m. and leave all your staff on the sunbed before you go for breakfast. We were waking up around 9.30-10.00 and only got a sunbed (chaise longe) on the first day...rest of the time we sat on a table at the restaurant. The area is full of wasps so if you are allergic to them, I would not recommend staying at Kyrimai. Most of the staff was rude esp. a lady in the reception (first impression when we entered the hotel was so bad as she did not welcome us neither asked if we needed any help with ouf luggage). Bright exception Matina who worked at the restaurant and was always very polite and helpful. Now the good things...very good breakfast with variety, excellent restaurant! So if you still want to visit this hotel, try to avoid August and ask for a superior room ( avoid rooms 202-205) Note: Four of us visited at the same time (2 couples) and we were all of the same opinion.Maybe we were just unlucky...!

We have just spent a wonderful week at the Kyrimai. A family of 4, we stayed in the Master Suite, which has sea views on 3 sides and is quite lovely. The staff are charming and very helpful, especially Sofia, and the location is marvellous.
If you are coming, don't forget your mask and snorkel because there are lots of fish in the lovely waters around the hotel and we also saw moray eels and an octopus. You don't seem to be able to rent boats which is a pity.
There are really only a couple of slightly negative points - firstly, the hotel's restaurant doesn't have a very broad dinner menu and that menu doesn't change at all even from week to week. It's fairly expensive - main courses €18 to 25 - and my personal view is that the food is a bit fussy for regular family dining (that assumes you want to spend €120/150 for dinner every evening). That brings me on to the only other shortcoming, something entirely outside the Kyrimai's control, and that is that Gerolimenas is seemingly not blessed with any other decent restaurants. We tried several and all of them were either very average or lousy. You get better food in the tavernas in the surrounding countryside and much the best place to eat nearby is Areopoli, which has a number of good Greek tavernas in a very pretty setting.
However, none of that detracts from what is a superb, historic hotel in a gorgeous setting.

The first visit was after it first opened, around 2004, and every time we return we love it. The authentic building, and its location/setting makes it one of the most understated, picturesque hotels in Greece.

One can lie by the pool, watching the sea for...ages. There is no gym or other activities in the hotel, but i doubt its guests miss them.

Its location also allows for small excursions in the area.

Admittedly, the service, and cleanness have lots of room for improvement, but having breakfast by the sea is a great experience. The quality of the food appears to have deteriorated over the years, but hopefully it will improve again. One gets the impression that quality has been slightly compromised over the years, but management could easily fix that by employing better qualified staff.

Finally, although there is no beach, the little dock allows easy access to the sea, where the waters are super-clean and refreshing.

Room Tip: For a balcony and view towards the Gerolimenas bay go for suite #301. For a Junior suite with balcon...
