“Great food, Friendly welcome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

We visited this Inn on 19th September 2013 during our holiday on the Island. It is a nice cosy place to have a family meal and was very pleased that our dog was allowed to come in to the bar.We had a friendly welcome when we first walked in which is more than could be said for other bars in the area. Pleasant very quick service with large portions. Food was excellent. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THE DARK HORSE to anybody visiting or living on the Island. The prices are a little more expensive than other places on the Island but the portion size and quality of food more than makes up for this. Phone to check opening hours before visiting as they sometimes close during the afternoon. We will be back soon.
My only complaint is that Hayley hasn't got another bar over in Portsmouth as we would visit every day.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

i had the burger and chips, the burger was a nice size but bland and very dry, the chips were very greasy. the waitress looked like she didn't want to be there. they never checked back on us until we were just about to leave! very poor, was looking forward to going here for my friends birthday. shouldn't have bothered!!

“Great pub, great food!”

During a holiday on the Isle Of White I ate at this pub on a couple of occassions. It served good, honest pub food, was child friendly and with great service. I would highly reccomend it.

“Great find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2013

Having holidays 3-4 times a year on the Island it is always a pleasure to find a good eating place that takes dogs and despite the fact we travel through Brading on a regular basis, we have always gone straight past, but on our last visit we thought we would give it a go and not disappointed were we at all. From the warm welcome from Hayley and her staff to the delicious food served we could not fault it, the dogs were also made very welcome too. We will definitely be visiting again when we visit the island, which will be very soon!

“A little Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2013

Check for opening times. As some days it does not open till the afternoon. Plenty of parking and a sunny beer garden.

I cannot sing enough praises for the delicious food. All home made. I think their Sunday roast is the best I have ever tasted
(beside my own!) once it's gone its gone so get in their before 1 pm.
It is a small quaint gastro village pub with a rustic feel.
Well worth a trip to if you are staying elsewhere on the island
