The title I have given to this review implies that the museum part of the villa isn't great, but nothing could be further from the truth. It is very well presented and worth seeing whether or not you are interested in Ancient Rome. The staff all looked happy to be working there and were quick to talk to us. The site is impressive and very good for children who can take part in all sorts of activities and puzzles. The cafe though is amazing. I have never had such a meal in a museum cafe, particularly at reasonable prices. It's worth going just for lunch!

My wife visited Brading Roman exhibition on a rainy day and found it one of the very best we had been across Europe. Well worth it for families as there is special activities for children. The food in the cafe was a great bonus.

From the history of how the site was found to the more recent discoveries the site is very well presented and well worth a visit. There is a very nice coffee shop too. All the staff we spoke to were helpful and well informed and we saw that children were made to feel welcome and actively engaged with what was on show.

There are two Roman Villas on the Isle of Wight which can be confusing. This is the one with the mosaics. It's not huge and you do have to use your imagination to picture it as it would have been but I found it more interesting than I expected and it held the attention of my teenage children as well as my six year old. Friendly staff keen to answer questions, shop cafe etc and nice garden for a picnic.
