A small castle which has nothing to see other than its walls. The information office does not have anyone who speaks English and the stairs are closed off. Not worth a visit.

Beja castle worth a visit for its well preserve area, the surrounding landscape and history.
Inside there is a Official Tourism Office as well as a cafe / restaurant.
Climb the spiral staircase of the keep and indulge in the surrounding countryside.
Worth the effort of each step you climb ... and they are many.

It is a very beautiful monumment....it's free too enter, you can go to the top of the main tower but you will get disappointed when y get there because the view is not that beautiful...an industrial landscape:/

Built in the C13 by Dom Dinis over Roman and Moorish remains. The keep is the tallest in Portugal (and at the time of construction it was the tallest in the Iberian Peninsula). Excellent views from the keep over the Alentejo plains. Remains of the castle walls can be seen at various points around the old town.
