Serves typical food and grill. Nice place in a traditional architecture. Located in the historic center.

“Some reputation but an average Restaurant”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

I had some expectations about this restaurant in the old part of Beja city. I heard some good comments about it and decided to try it. Big disappointment. I don't know if my standards are a bit high now but really it's just an average restaurant and the meat is not that great. Probably because of Portuguese crisis they lower the quality of meat they buy but the steaks we ordered (pork and beef) were overcooked and very hard. Maybe they just forgot the steaks to long on the grill. I don't know what happen but I don't want to go there again soon. I think when people start to lower their quality because they don't have enough costumers or money it's half way to loose all the costumers they already had or the new ones.

“A taste of the real Alentejo”
Reviewed 10 March 2013

A one-room restaurant with a bar/chill cabinets at one end and a small kitchen off to the side. There is a long run of side-by-side tables down the middle, with a few for smaller groups around the edges. Very friendly service and we got by with a mixture of his halting English and my (even more) halting Portuguese. Menu mostly pork, as often in this region. We had febras de porco preto (local black pig), which was very good, and the daily special, which was pork with a mound of 'migas' = bread and sausage, not to our taste at all. Both were served with rice and chips as the only vegetables, which is traditional Portuguese but hardly healthy.
We plumped for the bottle of Vidigueira DOC red already on the table rather than the house wine and enjoyed it a lot.

“Home restaurant”
Reviewed 17 February 2013

It's like going to a family for lunch/dinner. There is a big room which accomodates an open kitchen and the tables. Interior is ultra simple. Fodd is good (better than Adega 25 de Abril). Be patient when you get in. The owner doesn't care much if you are standing and waiting to be welcomed. But he is not mean. He's just like that.
