Owner description: The walls and pillars of the chapel, built in the century. XVII, are lined with thousands of human bones and skulls. Ceilings with murals realtivas death. Written on a plaque next to the door, the phrase "We bones that are here for your hope", reminds us how fleeting passage through life

Overwhelming feeling of calm & peace when you walk in. Not what I expected at all!
Beautiful inside. Spend sime time just standing quietly in the chapel.
The other big surprise was upstairs. Hundreds of Nativity scenes from all over the world. Lost track of time, took sooo many photos it was ridiculous. So much colour & so many interpretations.
A definite must see!

Quite amazing. I have never heard, nor seen anything like this. The Franciscans dug up the graves in town, and stacked them to form a chapel. Absolutely amazing, but not sure why this was done. The explanations say how it was done, and when, but not why. Either way, the chapel consists of tens of thousands of bones from people who passed away hundreds of years ago. Their graves were exhumed, and their bones were taken and sorted. Then, they used the femur and leg bones for one wall, the skulls for another, rib bones for another wall, arm bones for a pillar, etc. But, it was done tastefully.

To my followers: as strange as this is, you will never see anything like this. An absolute must see. The picture is worth a thousand words.

Yes, we will all end up this way! This is a bit creepy as well as a bit fascinating. If you have never seen this type of arrangement, it is worth visiting.

Not sure why someone decided to dig up all the graves and make a chapel out of the bones, but this was a creative application of that idea. There is an eerie feeling while visiting. Wish we knew more about the reason this was done.

After all the build-up, this ossuary is not all that interesting, just curious. A young man was creating a video with his own inaccurate version of history. Just all dem bones.
