“Great meat dishes and tomato soup”
Reviewed 19 November 2013 via mobile

We stopped in here based on a Rick Steves recommendation. The tomato soup specialty is a great dish to split and it will certainly fill you up. They also have some excellent meat dishes for a good value. Service was excellent and highly recommended.

“Loved the tomato soup”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

I really enjoyed the tomato soup. Great to see the wine being poured out of the cask directly to the table. The owner was engaging whilst balancing a busy restaurant. Worth a visit.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 14 October 2013 via mobile

What an excellent restaurant. Service very good, initially explained in good English all the items on the menu and made some suggestions. We had the steak and the black pig fillet. Their quality was excellent and they were accompanied by fried potatoes, rice and salad.
Interesting building and pleasant environment. Well worth a visit

“best meal in Portugal”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and we loved the rustic ambience and the food. The tomato soup is out of this world and is served with medallions of black pork sausage on the side. Best soup ever. We also tried the black pork steak and homemade chocolate mousse and thought both were superb. The owner, Carlos, posts the daily menu on a chalk board and waits on you. Be sure to try this place if you only have time to choose one restaurant.

“Great restaurant and introduction to local specialities”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

It was one recommended by our hotel and we weren't disappointed, would not have gone in if we had not been told about it - looks nothing from outside.
The owner was very attentive and explained each of the meals to us. Didn't have the soup (a local speciality), which I was told was excellent by a fellow diner but I did have the pork and clams which I thoroughly enjoyed and my husband had the black pork which he enjoyed too.
We had desserts, which were local, but would probably have enjoyed a Portuguese Tart more!!
The wine was very drinkable too.
All in all certainly worth a visit.
