Best Western Santa Clara was my choice against the advice of the travel agent to take a more expensive hotel. If you are driving you need a small car because the road leading to the hotel has a nightmare turn adorned with scrape marks. And there are only two car places outside the hotel with a third temporary place that blocks other vehicles from turning left into the adjacent street. So if you want one of these two car places get there before 2PM when check-ins start. Otherwise you will pay 65 cents per hour between 8 and 6 (I think) and walk a long way with luggage.
Other negatives are the rooms are small, and we found three unable electric outlets counting one for electric shavers. There was a fourth but it didn't work although a lamp was plugged into it that did work from the adjacent outlet. They've wired other lamps in the room behind wooden panels so you can't access them. So by unplugging the TV and not using a lamp you can charge batteries, etc. We have stayed in 8 or 9 hotels in Portugal that had plenty of outlets.
The positives are that the hotel location is good. Most sites of interest are within walking distance. The hotel itself is easy to find with a GPS where I've stayed at some more difficult to find. The breakfast was great, the usual fruit, cold cuts, cheeses, juices, and scrambled eggs plus bacon plus sausages. The staff is friendly and the room was clean.
